Scope DOF
Added 2024-04-07 01:11:52 +0000 UTCHi!
This weekend I have been working on some improvements and here's one related to the scopes.
Even though the current scopes don't use dual-rendering, there's still a lot features how to make these scopes more realistic and one of those was a small thing called scope depth of field.
Previously when you used scoped optics the camera FOV just zoomed in and the whole image stayed sharp.
Now with this scope DOF, when you look through the scope the outer image get blurred which simulates "eye focusing" and only the center part of the lens will remain sharp.
Here's before and after images.

I designed this feature in a way that it should not affect performance at all.
Let me know what you think about this.

Great solution! If dual render/PiP scopes ever come back, being able to toggle between this and dual render would be a pretty good end result. Like another comment said, this solves the issue of abusing the entire screen zoom to scout your surroundings in an unrealistic manner 👍

2024-04-07 20:01:46 +0000 UTCI get it np. I guess zoom and dual-rendering would be the best way but its not implemented yet.

2024-04-07 12:27:42 +0000 UTCDoing it this way makes it so the player cannot just zoom and scan around the scope. Because that would mean basically just "zooming" with your eyeballs. Not sure I explained that right lol

2024-04-07 09:30:42 +0000 UTCGood feature, I must say I abused the clear image by looking around outside of the scope to scan around and find targets lol, guess I can't abuse it no more

2024-04-07 09:28:29 +0000 UTCKind of closest to what it is true to life. You can’t really focus on just clear movement on the side of your eye. And if you do focus, it will break the sight picture (checking canted). I like it 👍🏻

2024-04-07 08:07:15 +0000 UTCLooks great! Dual rendering is cool, but I wouldn't mind at all if the scopes were like this in the finished product.

2024-04-07 07:30:04 +0000 UTCDof off still looks better imo as naturally when the focus concentrates to center spot, everything else becomes blurred out anyway. I guess being able to switch between these two options would be the best.

2024-04-07 01:22:00 +0000 UTCSo, it's good, but I personally prefer dual render scopes. If feasible, my 'preference' would be Dual render. Maybe if it's feasible, when time and resources allow, it could be toggleable? If dual render is still planned, I do like this!
