I might be a lit late on this topic and there may be plans for this in the future already, but can there be an option for just a click and drag feature for loot? The click once to pick up and then click once to drop is okay as an option, but the click and drag may feel more natural for some people like me who have played way too many loot games

Doctor Bananas

So far, things are looking good!

I'll likely do videos then, as I find it a little fun ;)

Video is always helpful and easier to demonstrate stuff but if the topic / demonstration is pretty straightforward words are also totally fine :)

haha i saw on my way out this evening. Feels like I wasted 15 min as every point in my video was covered :D I'll check out the update tomorrow morning. Do you prefer video and rambling or words on patreon. As it was mostly for you. I like the direction of this game and want to contribute.

Iluvatar

Thanks for the feedback, I actually covered most of those in the updated v2 build :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1huqLN7bFaM 4 min video with my thoughts on the system while playing. Summary, I quite like it. It could probably get refined in the future, but it works.

Iluvatar

Oh, I might have forgotten to "activate" that when I added that ESC / Middle Mouse closes it. I will fix that and couple of other bugs tonight and update this Dev Build.

For the new inventory. Open and close with TAB

Sorry I didn't quite it, could specify what inconsistency there is?

Road to Vostok

Why not TAB fir open and also TAB for closing? Us simpler..?

SW Content

yep. sorry. I didn't notice it. maybe those kind of messages should be more red or something. Actually I read that F1 but I forgot it. Sorry for these. This way is good for small demos like this. Next time I will try to read info and try to remember it.

This is a topic that I considered a lot. I came to this solution because the other way around there would be these situations when if you release the mouse or misclick the item it would reset to its original pick position which is annoying if there's a "high-risk" situation like when somebody is shooting you etc. The current approach allows that the item doesn't reset even if you misclick, it stays on the cursor and you don't have to drag it again from other side of the screen for example. But there's pros and cons for both approaches and I have to see which one serves the purpose better. But I think if you get used to this approach it's quite bulletproof in terms of misclicks and so.

Like mentioned in the UI, equipments are disabled because this build isn't for weapons. Also quitting is mentioned in the controls (post above) which is currently through F1 demo menu. The point of these dev builds is to showcase and give early access to spesific features without me having to worry about other gameplay elements, because otherwise making these would be really time consuming and they would slow the progress of the actual production.

Road to Vostok

I think the unable to equip weapon is by design, as the focus was just supposed to be on the inventory mgmt. That is why it says equipment disabled in the middle of the inventory screen.

And then one feed back. Should item be placed most top in any angle. so if try to find place for both angle(vertical, horizontal) and then choose most top place. I'm not sure is it convenient for user. And other option is if item is in spesific angle then try to but it in same angle to other container. so if gun is vertically then move it in same angle to other. As I said I'm not sure which one is more convenient but at least you should try.

I cannot equip any gun. Tried to boot demo. Is there any other way to close demo than alt + F4?

+1

Love the flow, works really well. The only feedback is the click to release an item in the destination inventory slows things down a bit. Would love a click - drag - release to move items.

Man first impressions, absolutely love it! this is the type of system i actually really enjoy in inventories :D im putting together feedback in my vid so it might take a bit to get out but i wanna make sure i get it all done in one efficient vid here, showing people wassup and giving you my thoughts n feelings. The progress though, mate, top notch! πŸ‘πŸ‘

Thanks for the feedback, I also think this is a significant improvement to the "looting flow" which is really important to get right in a game like this.

Road to Vostok

Really dig this. it feels way more natural than what's in the previous demo. I really think this could ship this way!
