I've been working on the Village map extension lately and I'm happy with the progress, visually the environment has improved and the project is well on schedule.
Couple days ago, I also decided to hire a 3D-freelancer for specific time consuming task where I don't want to spend my time currently. This specific task is vehicle modelling and texturing. This freelancer started working on the first vehicle model yesterday and it might get few iterations to get the general style right for this game but I'm really optimistic about this initial collaboration.
These vehicles will be abandoned props in the game world, they will be lootable and few of them will be on the main road of the Village. Most of them will be placed on the Highway map which is going to be in Public Demo 2. The goal is to have bunch of different styled sedans, vans, trucks with different color variations that are common in Finland/Russia/Baltic/Europe.
This freelance thing is possible thanks to you guys. Patreon is a great way to speed up things in this way, so I can focus on more "big picture" things and general progression of the project.
Today I will return back to weapons/attachments. My first task is to improve some dynamic elements of weapons. I'm going to improve the weapon sway and then add weapon stats that will effect the recoil / arm stamina etc. These thing will be directly linked to weapon attachments and weapon weight.
After I'm happy with the new weapon sway and weapon stats, I'm going to share an updated version of the attachment system dev build. This will include couple more weapons to test and the updated recoil system which is already done.

Well, in terms of "realism" when it comes to long-term post-apocalyptic scenario, I would say that working vehicles + drivable roads combo would be pretty rare. There's multiple perspectives for this but let's assume that this scenario would have involved some military operations for example. Firstly, there's no fuel around for civilians because it has been reserved for military and other critical infrastructure. Then all the main roads would be damaged from the artillery, blocked, mined and bridges would have been demolished in order to prevent any hostile movement/progression. During a large evacuation or panic, I would assume that many vehicles would be also abandoned to the road and there's all kind of debris that would make driving really slow and risky in terms of breaking your tires and so on. On top of this, I would also think that valuable/useful vehicle parts are pretty quickly scrapped for bartering and even if you would acquire one working vehicle, using a vehicle would make so much noise and draw attention that you should not probably want to use that. Even if you owned a proper off-road vehicle and were "prepped", there's a pretty high change that once you registered it during the peace time, the military/government already marked it to be "force acquired" for military use in case if there's a nation wide emergency situation. This applies also for tractors and other useful equipment.

2023-01-12 23:18:07 +0000 UTCSide question that arose reading this - out of curiosity : is there any way you'll justify engines not working? Just no fuel around? Or all of the engines broken and looted for pieces? In any case, "unwritten rules" like cars not being drivable can be absolutely accepted by players
