Dev Build - Recoil System

Hi!

Here's the new development build for you to test.

DOWNLOAD BUILD (1.23GB)

Note: When your downloading development builds, always download the whole file structure. Do not move or download individual files/folders.

Disclaimer: You can share, record and publish content from this development build, but do not share files or download links outside from Patreon.

Recoil System

This new recoil system is designed to provide good middle ground between realism and fun. Recoil behavior has been adjusted to more predictable direction where there's less random camera shake and more emphasis on mouse compensation when using automatic fire.

Weapon Audio

There are three weapons to test with the new audio: SP2022, AKS-74U and SVD Dragunov. This new weapon audio should be much more punchy and there's now also weapon specific reverb tails.

Optic Settings

When you inspect a weapon that has an optic attachment on the rail/mount, you can move the optic with [CTRL + SCROLL]. If the optic has adjustable reticle brightness controls, you can modify those with [ALT + SCROLL] when you are looking through the optic / aiming.

NVG / Image Intensifier

You can test the new NVG / Image Intensifier filter with different lighting conditions. You can activate the filter with [T] and change the lighting (time of day) through demo settings [F1]. You can also check how this filter reacts with your flashlight, flashlight was mapped to [MOUSE 5 (Side)]

Winter Examples

In the demo settings [F1], there's now Winter options available. These options are also linked to the weather types, so you can change these dynamically.

Demo Settings

On top of the winter features, there's few new options/fixes in the demo settings. Firstly, the Dual Render options is back and should now be working with the attachment system and optics that has magnification. There's also now UI-toggle to hide the HUD-elements, Inverted Mouse toggle, Water Reflection toggle (no water elements in the dev build though) and post-prosessing related Exposure options.

Good find, thanks! I will fix this tomorrow.

Road to Vostok

Alright, well here's the first bug I found: Firing the magazine empty on a weapon and then switching to another causes the other weapon to be unable to fire or reload even if previously fully reloaded. For example emptying the SP2022 and then pressing 1 to switch to the AKS-74U or SVD leaves you unable to fire or reload. Switching back to the SP2022 fixes it. This also works in the other direction.

Andex

The comments here (or in v2 post) are totally fine for me.

Road to Vostok

Awesome! Where do you want the possible feedback, here in the comments?

Andex

Awesome, thank you Antti, can't wait to try it

Daiviey

I am also having this problem. It may be something with my browser, i tried with opera and chrome.

Daiviey

I am also having the same issue from the link. Is there a different link we could try?

Kathryn

Very much looking forward to trying this out tonight! I'll likely have a video on it by tomorrow giving feedback :D

Tenebris Infinite

Okey that is definitely a bug, I will fix that asap and share a fixed version. Thanks for the info.

Road to Vostok

yes the Bug is pretty easy to redo. You just need to equip the AKS and a Secondary. Pull out the AKS and install all 3 Attachments. Then simply switch to the secondary and back to the primary and the Attachments are gone, they also aren't in the Inventory. I can repeat that till every Optic is gone also. Tried restarting 3 times and it is always the same.

SavRoyale

I will double check, thanks

MajorScunion

It should be working, I tested the link multiple times. If you could try again and maybe try a different browser (copy the link url there). I will upload that again there, so maybe that will fix that also.

Road to Vostok

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but when I click on the download build link, it takes me to Onedrive and says this item may not exist or is no longer available.

MajorScunion

Thanks for the feedback! Can you give more details about the bug so I can fix that right away. And yes, unfortunately there's no way for one developer to handle separate dev builds that are developed on top of the main demo, there would be so much more complexity and bugs, so these new features must be contained to small area. But this is only an issue as long as there is just me on the core dev team. For example if the Public Demo 2 goes well and I have the resources to hire feedback/bug/playtest related people, then these Dev Builds could be much more organized and extensive. ps. I will update the whole test sandbox area for the upcoming Public Demo 1 v2, so after this there will be more stuff for these devbuild, like AI test tool, water area, example building etc.

hi Antti, sadly there is a Bug with Attachments disappearing after switching to the secondary. But everything else worked fine for me. I love the Winter, the NVG works perfectly at night. Both scoped Options worked fine. Would love to see Water Reflections but there isn't Water anywhere on the Map?! Overall i really would like to see those Dev Builds builded up on the Demo instead of beeing seperat. But i can understand why you do it that way. Weapon Audio feels way more impactful. Only thing i'm missing is the impact sound for different Materials. So the Sound when a Bullet hits "Stone, Wood, Metal e.c.t". Hopefully sometimes in the future. Seeing and hearing the cartridge case being pushed out of the gun was a nice little detail that added a lot to the gameplay. Edit: And oh, thanks for adding inverted Mouse. Not for me but a lot of People on Steam couldn't play the first Demo because of this. Edit 2: Oh for the Recoil .... i think it is a little bit too controllable for me, dunno how the other see this point. But i feel like i can pin point hipfire on the target.

SavRoyale

Thanks. Will check this week
