The kid who played Fresh is Sean Nelson. He might look familiar... he played Young Mike in the movie "The Wood" that you guys saw. :D

2021-08-12 16:03:38 +0000 UTCI totally agree with you Michael, that ending scene where Fresh can finally let out all the emotions he's been feeling the entire time was so powerful. It was heartbreaking how much he had to go through, like things just kept getting worse and worse. Solid movie, we absolutely loved it.

2021-08-10 23:58:50 +0000 UTCBack in the day I owned this movie on VHS. In these lonely pre-internet days I didn't know anyone else who had seen it. I think I remember that this movie used very generic slang and fashion, to make it seem like it took place anywhere at any time. For me the most unforgettable moment was at the end, when Samuel L. Jackson was confronted by his son's tears and was totally at a loss as to how to deal with the situation. He had been playing chess and imparting his wisdom throughout the movie - and then was brought up hard on the fact that he did not have a fathers skills or connection to his son. This movie was freaking tragic for all it's characters.
