I'm so happy Caesar named his son Cornelius. That was a great nod to the orginal Planet of the Apes. I can't believe they killed him off. My heart is broken.

2024-05-06 02:20:02 +0000 UTCThe virus essentially reversed everything between the apes and humans. Apes became smarter, humans became primitive. This gives a more grounded reason why the future is the way it is by the time this story links up with the original Apes films. Remember in Rise they kept talking about the space mission to Mars that got lost, that is supposed to be the mission from the original Planet of the Apes so at some point in the future that space ship will come back to Earth and find out what happened from the events of Rise/Dawn/War.

2024-04-11 11:55:37 +0000 UTCThis trilogy is criminally underrated! Andy Serkis as Caeser is just amazing, right up there with Gollum. I will say though as much as I like Rise I think Dawn and War blow it out of the water. I personally like the characters more, Caeser's character development and most importantly the villains. For me that is the biggest flaw with Rise, the villain is just mediocre, just your typical villain. But both sequels have fantastic villains that do not get mentioned enough when talking about movie villains. Woody Harrleson's monologue is amazing, both he and Koba are so complex and compelling. Yeah, killing off Blue Eyes I did not expect when I first saw this, they set him up so much in Dawn and the beginning of this one so to see him go like that was shocking. I love the moments Caeser has with the girl, the way he's watching her eye when Luca died I think really showed him that there was good humanity left, he became so jaded for what happened and rightfully so, before then he was quite cold to her. And her taking the chance and going to him was so well done, it was because of her he lived, he most likely wouldn't have made it on his own and again she showed him humanity, the side that he forgot was there. And as sad as it was to see Caeser go I think it was very bittersweet, he did his job, he saved his son and got the apes to safety and he went smiling. It's just so good!
