Definitely watch the next one, Live Free Or Die Hard. it didn't get the love it should have when it came out but over the years fans of the series have started to embrace it. It may not be the over the top action movies like the first two were but It's still a fun ride.

2024-12-09 06:31:49 +0000 UTC(Contains Spoilers) Couple things. You said that you thought the 2nd movie had a more 'vicious' villain because he was willing to kill a plane full of people. What you mean is that he DID kill a plane full of people - to prove a point no less. Simon to the citizens was also willing to blow up a school full of children...or so they thought. WE know that he wouldn't/didn't along with John and the bomb tech. As far as everyone else was concerned, that bomb threat was real. And Simon WOULD have killed a subway full of people in the Wall Street blast (along with however many people died in the opening scene blast that wasn't discussed...) if John hadn't intervened by getting the riders to move back. So Simon was plenty vicious. Just not needlessly so. And as far as the plot goes, it was brilliant. Simon had everything planned down to every detail. He had double and triple crosses going on along with red herrings - which definitely runs in the family since that is exactly what Hans did - planned every detail. The only thing Hans didn't calculate into his plans was John. Simon took that into consideration and despite all his planning - was still bested by a single bottle of aspirin. And you gotta love the Christmas reference they made even though this takes place in the late summer/early fall.
