Prop experiment
Added 2020-04-20 16:00:00 +0000 UTCI find working with props, whether it be costume pieces I remove, chairs, pepper mills, or giant Jason masks used as “fans“ with removable machetes as handles, requires experimentation to figure out how to best put them to use. I built this table/bench thing for a disaster of a duet (my collaborator and I turned out to be a poor match on nearly every level), and it’s been in storage ever since. I thought I’d see if I could put it to new use, and this is my first run at figuring out what I can do with it on camera. I definitely learned that certain poses lead to some bizarre foreshortening... I suspect I’ll pull it out again in the not too distance future to figure out some better angles!

Looking around YouTube is the way to go, there are some short videos on it....its called scale and you have to use the slicer to cut the time frame so certain sections can be treated individually.

I’m using Premiere Pro, which is both wonderful and bang-my-head-against-things frustrating (though the latter might be due to the fact that I like to learn stuff by doing it...without the tutorials if I can sort it out). I suspect the function’s in there... it’s just a matter of figuring out what idiotic name they gave it, then how to use it...

You might be on to something with the remote in hand and zoom??? You could totally make a face/nylon sole vid like that! Teasing us with the in and out. I don’t know haha. Im a computer networking and cyber security enthusiast so if you have any issues in general feel free to ask i love problem solving.

The break in character was because I forgot that those shoes require some manhandling to get the heel on properly (t-straps will be used if I try that again). And I’ve had to get better at multi-tasking while tapping! Teaching drop in classes requires a lot of talking & watching while demonstrating. And I love the caption! Thank you!

I need to play with my editing software a bit more- I know I can zoom in a fair bit when I record in 4K, but haven’t hunted around to figure out if I can do a smooth zoom (probably better than looking at a camera remote while dancing). I’ll try to figure that out soon!
