The art representing Piotr Rasputin, our Colossus, is indeed one of the most laborious.
Although it contains fewer steps than the Iceman, the Colossus piece has a myriad of details that require a lot of attention and care due to the attempt to emulate a metallic and chrome surface.
Strips (representing his body segments), dark surface ripples, metallic gradients, etc... all having to respect (of course) the movement of the body, muscles and lighting.
And add here also the colors representing the reflection of closer objects... Oof!
It's an intense exercise in calculating, imagining, and testing in order to make it seem to work.
And of course, studying a series of objects with chromed surfaces and how light and reflected images behave on them.
I'm not a machine. And the "thought laboratory" to pull off such an illustration can be exhausting.
Especially when you're a perfectionist! Haha can be a highly burnout dealer.
But to see such work completed, and even better, to see your pleasure in such a piece... Ah! It makes all the effort worth it!
So here, I share with you a little bit of the process of this artwork!
I hope this pleases you my Dears β¨
