For Pride's art from the first moment I already had in mind that it would represent a person of color and that he would be a trans man.
For it's about representativeness, about celebration and empowerment of these existences.
I wanted to represent him proudly holding the rainbow flag, but I wanted it with a sense of freedom, strength, grace, and joy!
Suddenly I imagined him dancing, so happy, and I thought That's it!
The golden laurel wreath on his head, and the golden laurel branches in place of the mastectomy scars, accentuate the glorious idea of his existence, and also tie this man in the same line of reasoning as the other Pride artworks I made, where other Greek mythological figures appeared (Venus and Athena), where I try to deconstruct the idea cancified in the heads of many, of semi-stoic figures, in "white marble", resignifying them as real people and giving power to a community (the LGBTQIAP+) that has struggled so much without it.
Here, I share with you some of the original sketches of this work, as well as the lineart.
I hope you like my Dear Ones β¨
