Not that he was weaker. People misinterpret this so so so often it's cray. It is canonincally stated that phyiscally he is the 2nd strongest, is the fastest runner, and had his swordsman ship(as a ninja) acknowledged by Rengoku to be greater than his own. The mark also makes a huge difference too. Both Rengoku and Tengen never reached their full potential.

At this point just one episode for Kanroji feels too little. If she gets some good focus for the first half of the last episode in addition to next episode, that'd be cool.
