10 Games I've Changed My Mind About

Greetings employees!

Time for another Patreon-exclusive list, this time generously commissioned by Bill!

Thanks, Bill!

The subject of this list is simple: as I've grown older, I've changed my mind about a lot of things, includling board games. Some, I've developed a new appreciation for, whilst others have seen their standing plummet in my estem. I'll explain which ones - and why - in this lovely, personal, and occasionally invective-laced list!

How about you? Which games have changed in your estimation over time? I want to read all about it, so share your experiences in the comments!

Until next time...

10 Games I've Changed My Mind About

Comments

I genuinely think Risk: Legacy has made the original completely obsolete (much like Yahtzee with Bluffing). Mostly by the introduction of two simple things: faction abilities and bases. The bases are another win condition: anyone controls all bases, they immediately win. You lose your base, you lose a source of soldier generation, so it's not an instant death sentence, but it's a fire that needs to be put out ASAP.

Mr. Samuel Scratch

The last time I played Risk was when I was 17 and had just gotten my own apartment; invited friends over and had overall a good time. 5 of us decided to play Risk. 2 of them were knocked out pretty quickly. I went out about an hour after them, though I was never going to win from the very onset. And then the other 2 proceeded to trade soldiers back and forth for 6 hours. No, not an exaggeration, the sun had come up and they were still going. And that is the story of how I decided to never play Risk again in my life.
