Main character's gender for the next game
Added 2020-08-19 17:22:17 +0000 UTCHello! I’m starting drafting some materials for the new game, including basic stuff. Speaking about the main character, I thinking about going with the male option this time, at least for diversity’s sake. This won’t limit H scenes only to M x F options since I can and will mix in yuri stuff too.
So, what do you think? Let me know how you feel about this through this poll.

@Yeehaw Games ... Or the setting (post-apocalyptic + urban fantasy unless I'm missing a commonly high-difficulty authorial setting) tripped you up. ... Or you're being too hard on yourself. ....Or stopping at v0.3 (IIRC) meant there wasn't enough story for many people. Personally, I remember Ororo as being good but short.

2020-08-20 15:46:12 +0000 UTCNo offense to Mr. Urquhart, but the reason I even found out about YeeHaw games back in 2018 was because you published an *ero* game with a male protagonist. At least at that time, finding such a game amidst the deluge of "lady protagonist who gets dominated by every mook, towny, and boss" was a breath of fresh air. Maybe it's just our differing experiences, but certainly if you're making an ero-game, I'll have to vote a hard "Male". Er, no pun intended....

2020-08-20 15:38:29 +0000 UTC@William Urquhart Now when you say "games", are you talking about ALL games such as PS, Nintendo and XBOX or just H games exclusively? But if you're talking about H games only, you'll find that about 80% of them are female.. Just take a look on DLsite, DMM and everywhere else if you like. Now in the older days I would agree to your percentage. But 80% is quite high for male protag games, especially these days. I'd lower that a just bit.. But other than that I do agree with you, so don't come at me bro ^_^

2020-08-20 10:51:48 +0000 UTCThanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m still in the early stages of stringing game ideas together and explore the options. Thus, I made the poll to see what players and patrons think. I get what you are saying about separating from the “rest” but it’s always a two-way street. For example, Ouro was rather unique with its setting, smooth animations, customization and more serious story-driven gameplay. It failed quite miserably. Either I’m bad at serious storytelling or players aren’t that interested in this type of game. On the other hand, we have standard “sandbox” games with little to no plot where the main character just visits girls and fucks them after completing a few fetch tasks. Sure, each girl has a short story of her own, but that’s it. Such gameplay is more “accessible” for all kinds of players and allows them to focus on getting the H content without worrying about anything else. Thus, it brings more attention to the creator.

2020-08-20 09:03:22 +0000 UTCI never thought about this option seriously since it’s hard to find a suitable update schedule for this “both” genders approach. For example, if v0.1 has the male options, what must be v0.2 have? Female option for the same content on new bits? If new, then how many updates must pass before I need to go back to v0.1 and make events for the female counterpart? How will players react? I don’t know, I’ll consider putting this option on the poll too. At least to check the interest. Both genders and even dynamic change are doable with a bit of fine-tuning on the logic side. Hell, I made Live2d integration with RPG Maker MV which was a lot harder. I wasted 4 months on it. Still, nobody was actually interested in Ouro and the animations, so... The previous experience tells me to avoid inventing new stuff since there are games with 1/3rd of Yorna’s content and quality while having x3+ support values. So, yeah, it’s doable, but I’m reluctant to implement this resource-wise. It’s impossible to provide decent updates for both genders while juggling development, daily job and real life. Perhaps later with a higher support level and a helper. Currently, I don’t see an option for going into dual-gender mode.

2020-08-20 08:41:36 +0000 UTCabout 80% of the games out there are male protagonists, it will be MUCH harder to separate yourself from the others doing yet another. My opinion: Do a game about a young woman that actually has determination and character - a *HARD* line at which she will not cross (and will violently - if not lethally - oppose someone pushing her across it!!!) I am so tired of characters that are seemingly indifferent to horrible events that happen. Sure, have her expand her boundries - but also have her do so out of *her* desires and actions rather than always being manipulated or forced. Makes a bit more challenge in writing, but a MUCH better (and different) result.

2020-08-19 22:25:01 +0000 UTCWell if its left up for vote why not both? I do understand what that means is that both genders would need their own events and art and possibly many changes to the script based on gender, but...could it be done? and do people want this instead?
2020-08-19 19:55:22 +0000 UTCI think a male character is a great idea and really would be better for a change. Well, let's see then...
