Well damn, I filled out the survey wrong. Now I hear the synopsis, I actually DID read this book when I was younger. It was so boring that I remembered it only as "That kid spy book with the jellyfish" (the jellyfish was the only part that stood out to me), so I didn't recognize the title.

BTW, the absence of school uniforms makes no sense. School uniforms aren't universal in the United States, but many schools and school districts use therm, and the concept is well known. That change is dumber than the Sorcerer's Stone.

Thank you for covering this adaptation, while I was aware of the more glaring changes, there were some things you pointed out that I had missed. A couple quick notes that I hope aren't too spoiler-y. Jack does become a more important character in later books, Sabina Pleasure is a sort-of love interest, and while I loved Stephen Fry as Smithers, he doesn't suit the character entirely (especially in light of a later reveal)

Where can I find the crossover with Film Brain? I can't find it on his channel. Was there supposed to be a link there to a video that hasn't been released yet?

And there's (based on my opinion) two reasons they decided to do Point Blank, you got one right though.

I read the books up until about the middle of the series, Ark Angel or so. It was a power fantasy for me.

Don't worry, Sunny Lovett. (About one of them, anyway.) I'm an official Unbelievably Beautiful Watcher, and I chose Legends of Earthsea as my first review request. It's somewhere in the line. I don't know how far back at this point. I don't intend to ask for either of the others, but at least one of those will be covered. (And there is precedent for the Dom making a special review of additional adaptations of works he's covered, so he might choose to do the Ghibli movie on his own. Up to him or another U.B.W., though.)

You didn't explain what the bizarre marketing decision was.

I read the graphic novel version of this, well the end of it anyway. I just realized watching this that it was based on the film, rather than the book.
