yeah from the womans perspective, she went into hospital to get a little thing in her head for a week to learn how she likes her toast, what time she likes to get up in the morning etc. Then a week later gets it taken out and put into an Alexa type machine that runs her house and makes her toast in the morning. She probably has no idea that it is a completely artificial intelligence copy of her that's capable of being bored and scared etc.

They made them by implanting some thing into your brain, and then taking it out after a while, it doesn’t change anything about the original you. The woman got one made to use as a personal assistant-type thing. Since it’s a simulation, they can make it run faster than real time.
