ARCADIA 14

Hey Hey MCDM Patrons,

Your James Introcaso is here to bestow ARCADIA 14 fresh off that digital press and into your digital hands. Let’s take a dive into the awesome.

Cover Art by Henrik Rosenborg

What’s better than a hero wearing metal-clawed boots? A hero wearing metal-clawed boots and riding an armored monster that you wish was your best friend! Take a moment and drink in that art. Everywhere you look, there’s something to discover and fuel your game brain. What is going on with that tree on the left? I can tell you this much—it’s going in my game.

The Big and the Small by Willy Abeel

Want to play an ogre character? Of course you do. They have layers. What about a pixie? Heck yeah! This article presents new ancestries including the Large-sized coalder, ogre, one-and-a-halfling, and beefling as well as the Tiny mousquetaire, pixie, garden gnome, and impling. Plus a new creature and companion, the tarrascal! Gustavo Pelissari drew the illustrations big and small in this article!

Botanical Undead by Gwendolyn Marshall

You’re going to need a bigger lawn mower! The Corrupted Forest was once the battleground in a war of druids against necromancers. The residual magic from the conflict blighted the land, causing plants to grow with a life of their own and the dead to rise! This article presents the forest’s details and provides five new plant-themed undead, including the fungal zombie, shambling corpse mound, thorn skeleton, treant zombie, and vine ghast. MCDM’s own Nick De Spain had the green thumb that created the illustrations for this article with maps homegrown by Miska Fredman.

The Afterparty by Sally Tamarkin (with Wray Wroulette by Mike Seeley)

The goodbye gala for the young Aurelius Wray can’t be missed. Before this young aristocrat continues the family tradition of a career in the military, their grandfather is throwing one last shebang. Too bad it’s cursed! But don’t worry, the party never stops in this adventure for 3rd-level characters, which includes the new dice game, Wray Wroulette. Zuzanna Wuzyk and Faizal Fikri captured the spirit of this article in the art, and we get even more maps from Miska Fredman!

FAQs

Q: How long will I be able to download the ARCADIA PDF attached to this post?

A: Indefinitely. Though this wasn’t the case at launch, our policy has changed. All issues of ARCADIA remain attached to their launch posts. You can read more about it here.

Q: I know someone who wants to get a copy of ARCADIA, but they don't want to use Patreon. Is there somewhere else they can get it?

A: Definitely, and we understand! That's why, when we post the current issue of ARCADIA to Patreon, we add it to the MCDM Shop at the same time :D. On the MCDM Shop an issue of ARCADIA is $12.

Q: I want to submit an article for ARCADIA. How do I do that?

A: Thanks for your interest, but we currently don’t accept open submissions — you can check out this post to learn more about how we source articles for ARCADIA.

Q: What is this... an FAQ for ANTS? I have a question and it's not one of the ones listed here!

A: Oh no! D: If you need help with anything MCDM-related, email our support inbox (hello@mcdmproductions.com) and we'll respond as soon as we can. We're looking forward to reaching the point where we can bring on a dedicated support team member to help everyone lickety-split, but until we get there we try to check for new messages every week or two. We've got many tools at our disposal, so rest assured that when you hear back from us we will do everything we can to make sure you're taken care of! :)

Man, MCDM keep knocking it out of the park with Arcadia. This issue is fantastic! I absolutely LOVE the rules for tiny & large PCs.

Tom Mosquera

This has got to be my favorite cover

Celeborn

I’m starting a new game and one of my players is using the small rules for their faerie. Thank you!

Euphonetics

I would love to see the art cover as an STL 3D printable file.

Akihisa Futjimoto

The cover art might be my new favourite! Henrik Rosenborg is a genius.

Yannick Yoran

I don’t know how y’all keep knocking it out of the park every issue, but I love seeing it! Super thankful for some hard rules on large and small pc’s.

Adam Lewis

I should probably read the whole thing before posting! Very much plan on using the Botanical Undead in my campaign, what a great concept!

Jonathan Irons

Great work! Really happy. One small note: The image on p.8 appears to have no alt-text?

Lennart Peters

That cover oh my god

Abroad American

Love those dwarves so much, squat and troll-like, very reminiscent of the Trudvang art style

elijah tebbens

One of my favorite issues now. Large and tiny needed this !

Myles Cullen

I love big (and small) ancestries and I cannot lie! And all of these articles actually

Roman Penna

This is incredible, my entire campaign is based around an archdruid who has utilised a plague that infects dead bodies with plantlife and creates "Rooted". These stat blocks are perfect!

Danielle Green

Mercy! I foresee some random encounters with Fungal Zombies in my party's future....

Brian Diehl

I loved The Big & the Small, and has details for tiny gnomes, which I was going to create for my new campaign so I can check that off the list. Really cool stuff.

Eric Gershik

I love the cover art in general, but this was definitely my favorite so far!

Robert Martin

I *need* more of those cover page dwarves! Absolutely gorgeous, hopefully they make it into the monster book.

Wes Jones

The highlight of my month. Thanks.

Brian Schettler

Big Paul Bonner vibes on this cover!

Nick

I saw the tiny stats about not being able to use equipment, by normal means, larger than their size and immediately thought, "Fear me!" said the Pixie with Gauntlets of Giant Strength swinging a large battle ax.

Paul Turner

Very much looking forward to getting into the undead, you just can't have enough!
