ARCADIA 30 Table of Contents

Hello Patrons,

It is I, your James Introcaso, with the final (for now) ARCADIA table of contents. Behold what lies in store at the month’s end. ARCADIA 30 is the magazine going out on a high note!

Magic for the People by Erin Roberts

Yeah, fireballs are great, but have you ever used magic to create a stick that points toward the nearest source of freshwater? This article presents rules for learning and using folk magic—items, rituals, and more that help people accomplish everyday tasks. Each element of folk magic has adventuring applications as well. For instance, the joined as one ritual is great for a married couple or just a group of adventuring pals that wants to watch each other’s backs.

The Crossroads by V.J. Harris

Just step through the mouth of a mimic in a certain city alley and you’ll find yourself in the Crossroads—a demiplane of criminal delights! At this extradimensional marketplace, you can buy pretty much any goods or services an adventurer might require that they can’t legally purchase anywhere else: assassinations, poisons, chimera eggs … you know, the essentials. It’s even connected to other criminal marketplaces across the planes. If you need to travel the multiverse, the Crossroads has you covered. Just bring enough gold to pay the pit fiend guardian!

The Last Seven Notes by Sadie Lowry

Of course, for our final ARCADIA issue we had to get a celestial goodness from an author who has been dishing out divine grace since the magazine’s first issue. “The Last Seven Notes” is an adventure for 7th-level characters that takes place in a cathedral where a Celestial became corrupted and began slaughtering clergy without warning. A special song can restore the being back to their goodly self, but the surviving priests only have an incomplete version of the tune. On a dark and stormy night, the characters enter the cathedral and brave its corrupted guardian to find the last seven notes of the song.

You can come hang out on Discord and Reddit to talk with a bunch of other MCDM fans about ARCADIA, The Illrigger, Beastheart and Monstrous Companions, Kingdoms & Warfare, Strongholds & Followers, Flee, Mortals!, and the upcoming MCDM RPG!

Gotta get back to uncovering the places where evil lives!

FAQ

Q: If I’m on the MCDM+ tier, will I still get ARCADIA?

A: Yes! ARCADIA is available to all paid Patreon tiers.

Q: How long will I be able to download the ARCADIA PDF attached to this post?

A: Indefinitely. All issues of ARCADIA remain attached to their launch posts. You can read more about it here.

Q: I know someone who wants to get a copy of ARCADIA, but they don't want to use Patreon. Is there somewhere else they can get it?

A: Definitely, and we understand! That's why, when we post the current issue of ARCADIA to Patreon, we add it to the MCDM shop at the same time. :D On the MCDM shop an issue of ARCADIA is $12. And at the time of this post, there are bundles of ARCADIA 1–6, ARCADIA 7–12, ARCADIA 13-18, and ARCADIA 19-24 for $14.99 each.

Q: I want to submit an article for ARCADIA or write for MCDM. How do I do that?

A: Thanks for your interest, but we don’t accept open submissions—you can check out this post to learn more about how we source articles and authors.

Q: What is this, an FAQ for ANTS? I have a question and it's not one of the ones listed here!

A: Oh no! D: If you need help with anything MCDM-related, email our support inbox (hello@mcdmproductions.com) and we'll do everything we can to make sure you're taken care of! :)

Comments

The paths of Arcadia have always changed and shifted with the seasons. But take heart! Though we will soon be leaving this enchanted world behind, it has changed us forever. It has left indelible marks upon our souls, and wherever we go next, we will each carry a piece of Arcadia with us. Onward, friends. Our next adventure awaits!

A very good point!

Arek Schneyer

Well, this run of issues has been superlative. Great articles, ideas and art. I shall miss it!

Dharmatrails

You can check out the DM Lair, and their Lair digital magazine. They have been doing both 5e and PF, and interesting they are splitting those into two separate digital magazines starting in September. That is where I am heading.

The MCDM+ tier will continue to have updates and progress on the RPG. The $5 tier will no longer have regular content other than the Running the Game videos.

MCDM Productions

If there's ever a chance of getting a bound collection of the run of the magazine, I'd be interested. Just throwing that out there!

What happens to the Patreon after Arcadia? Will it unlock or add anything to the new MCDMrpg? Or is it just for updates and support now?

Mark Broadbridge

These sounds very cool!

Foveros

I've really loved Arcadia over the last 3 years. It's helped a ton with my campaign prep and honestly I wish it'd keep going over ANOTHER new system in response to OGL schenanigans, but I respect the decision and I can't complain about how great Arcadia was. As a side note, anybody know of any good magazines doing something similar to Arcadia even at a higher price?

Nick Karlovich

End of an era! Sad to see the last one (for now) is finally here. Thank you and all the ARCADIA contributors! These have been fantastic.

Josh

Ooooooh! I’m liking the look of these articles!

Arek Schneyer

Can't believe it! Looking forward to finishing the collection. I would note that 30 covers divides nicely into 5x6 and might make a good poster...

Nick

😢

Jan-Niclas Bertram

Magic for the People! Sounds great! Didn't even know I needed something like that

Bryce Anderson

End of an era! Can't wait to see what the future holds for MCDM, but I'm definitely going to miss these issues. Thank you James and Matt and countless other contributors; I hope to keep seeing your work here and elsewhere.
