Yellow, Pink, and Gray are the three main/named sheep of the Herd, who dwell in The Paddock, far from the center of the farm and close to Rabbit Territory. They represent three generations, with Gray as the elder, Pink as a grousing middle aged, and Yellow as a young adult. The Herd keeps very much to itself as an insular and somewhat skittish community and as a result they don't socialize much with the other animals, who seem to know little about them. But this social isolation can only last so long -- eventually, you want to get to know your neighbors.
