We also discuss Sam’s recent debate appearances including the “vs. 20 Conservatives” video, and how it’s not the stupidity but the confidence that’s really astounding. Finally, for the main course for today’s ep, the massive profile on John Fetterman’s deteriorating mental competence, and how the most offensive part of the scandal is the staffers who covered for him now seeking to cover their own asses.

I remember my Majority Report phase back when I was still a lib just starting to drift leftwards. It was better with Michael Brooks, rest in peace. Vigeland is pretty much a radlib at this point in my opinion. I used to like her takes back around 2017, but I used to be a lib and a democrat back then so maybe that’s why.

My biggest issue with all liberals is their unwillingness to thoroughly question themselves and their own American exceptionalism that's been propagandised into them their entire lives. He's no grifter, he believes what he says, but of course if you have to slander journalists who do more anti-imperial work than you do you're not good enough in the age of America's horrendously destructive imperial meltdown.

As a DoS Ultra I don't think it goes far enough: we should fence in Missouri and convert it to a combination amusement park/zoo enclosure/nursing home where The Stupids can live exactly as they like amongst their own kind. Food and medicine distribution would be handled at facilities disguised as Walgreens and fast casual restaurants, staffed by security personnel trained to react to verbal abuse like real service industry people while maintaining control . (These facilities would, of course, accept Monopoly money issued to the inmates, given that they would become unruly if they thought any communism was going on.) We'd broadcast staged news stories about how everything Q says is coming true and how the stock market is gonna go up forever because Barron Trump made a trade deal with Elbonia and Babar's elephant kingdom, etc. Wouldn't even need to shoot new footage after a while, just say the reruns are because everybody got cloned and executed again. As for broader security environment, we envision a semipermeable zone of control, allowing exit by anyone who demonstrates the ability to talk for 5 minutes without bringing up tunnels connecting every Wegman's in the world or the Iraqi Dinar or any of the other articles of faith held by The Stupids.

This is possibly the thing I like about him most—that he almost never punches left even though I don’t always agree with his takes. What other liberal, legacy media-adjacent figure of his age with his background in showbiz etc is even remotely as left as him (anti-Zionist, “platforming” communists, speaking favorably of socialism/communism etc.?) Gotta contextualize things sometimes guys. And if “punching left” means simply articulating a disagreement on strategy, then politics is sure to drive you batshit insane in the near future if it hasn’t already. And I’ll add that people who think he “yells at” leftists to vote Dem or whatever don’t understand his show. What happens is people call in and argue with HIS positions, which forces him on the defense. Sometimes the person calling is a mouth-frothing moron like some of the commenters here, which leads to Sam raising his voice a little. That’s the extent of him “yelling at people” to do things. I could say more but I’ve already gone on far more than I’d like. Think whatever you want, but imo Sam has always seemed like one of the few non-snake oil weirdos in media and glad these guys think so too. As Mike Francesa used to say to prank callers: why don’t you go help somebody? Why don’t you do something with yahwself?

A little late to the party here but a few takeaways after skimming—or rather, a few things that I find kinda baffling: - That there are subscribers/fans of this show who are somehow surprised or offended by this guest. If you can’t spot the influence Sam/MR has had on CTH, then either you must be like 15 or you must not be very familiar with either show - That there are people who actually think this is indicative of some kind of “turn” or something. You guys think this is Seder’s first time on? They’ve been pals/sorta unofficially linked since day one—wait till you find out their offices shared a building and that the host who has collaborated with Sam/MR-World the most is likely none other than Matt Christman (pretty sure he was just on w/ Sam in the last couple years not long before he went out) - The idea that there is enormous political daylight between Sam and the Chapo guys. It may not be a perfect circle, but there is more than enough overlap to justify collaborating if you aren’t a maladjusted weirdo with mashed potatoes between your ears - What’s up with the Pod Save/NPR comparisons—why do people think that? Seder is def a bit more lib-coded and wonky than the Chapo guys (the shows deviate a bit formally speaking and in terms of aim—plus MR started in a vastly different media landscape long before the online edgelords and ML cosplayers of today’s freakshow alt-media environment ). But he and MR (especially when Michael Brooks was still around) were doing the shit-talking and dunking on people thing that would become a defining characteristic of the “dirtbag left” long before anyone’s favorite “leftist” shows existed - That there are still people whining about “Force The Vote” (what was this show’s position on that—anyone remember?) - That there are people who still don’t understand that listening to podcasts and posting is not doing politics (90% of the whining is 100% because Sam Seder once disagreed with their favorite media weirdo) - That there are people who despise Sam Seder but loved Michael Brooks. Utter brainrot - That people are so online-poisoned and reductive in their thinking (Seder “sheepdogs for the Dems” and is a “genocide enabler”—get a life)

Also he was a great artist for a period. If you haven’t seen “Who’s the Caboose” watch it this weekend. A certified popcorn classic. A top 5 comedy for me and one of the best movies about showbiz and the delusional people who go into it.
