THE ECLIPSE BEGINS!

The uncensored version of tomorrows Berserk video!

THE ECLIPSE BEGINS!

Comments

Good video, what is insane is that it only gets better, hope you enjoy it.

They were tricking him, to some degree at least. They zeroed in on his weakness surrounding the lives of his men, which is that the ones who followed him and died did so for nothing unless he achieves his dream. That they were there willingly to help him achieve that great dream, and to give up would dishonor the dead.

It wasn't the entire Band of the Hawk asking Guts to lead either, it was specifically the group he originally captained over. It was also Gaston who made the request, who is a known Guts giga-fanboy.

This is untrue. The chapter is canon, 84 continues directly from it. And the words of one of the characters in there continue to resonate through the story, down to some characters unknowingly quoting it later on. And another member of its kind showing up in an arc way past this one. The only reason people argue if its canon or not is because Miura removed it from volumized version. But he didn't removed it from the story, its still chapter 83 of berserk. Nothing has been renumbered, its still there.

https://readberserk.com/chapter/berserk-chapter-083/ Here is a link to that lost chapter. It's not officially cannon. It's been kind of ret-con'd but is a great snapshot of what the author was pulling from. Cultural subconscious. Jung would be so proud!

As for the aptly named Gut's Raiders, I saw that as an early sign of the Band resorting to banditry. After all, piracy/ banditry require a whole different mindset than a mercenary group, with the ability to "persuade" the defenders that a fight isnt worth it in order to save on lives and resources being the most important factor. Casca is absolutely the better leader but when it comes to intimidating (presumably) sexist asshole guards protecting the goods to give up without a fight, which Face would they more likely give up to? The infamous 1v100 victor with the FUCK YOU sized sword(once they get him a new one), or the seemingly petite lady whose looking very cross at you?

Honestly just happy he gave the series the chance it deserves. The beginning of the series, even with how violent and full of troupes as it is, is a terrible metric to judge berserk. So I'm happy he is enjoying it on his own.

Hi Daniel! Lovin' the Berserk read-through. I just wanted to echo a lot of other folks that this would be a good time to take a look at the "Lost" chapter of Berserk (#83). It was removed by Miura's request after the original publication because it revealed too much; however, I think it actually provides some amazing context and is worth reading. If not on the regular stream, maybe as a Patreon only exclusive? :D

I think it’s really interesting that instead of the demons tricking Griffith into becoming a demon, they show who he is as a person and why he belongs to them and give him the choice of becoming one of them or stay human.

I'd be more interested in seeing him react to the outtakes of that series, in particular to Griffith's musical numbers.

Man Daniel would benefit massively from watching the 90's berserk series. It has so much of what he is looking for.

Thanks for the long videos, always appreciated!

Now, I'm not the best at reading facial expressions, but when I see Zodd's face in the last page, to me that looks like someone not thrilled to be there.

Recent patrion follower but long time viewer. So excited for next week! And thank you for soldiering through the edits!

no, if it was I wouldn't be asking if there were plans to cover it or not.

Is this chapter included in the new deluxe hardcovers?

So, do we know Daneil's plan for the "lost" chapter 83? like on one hand Miura did pull it from all reprints so we have authorial intent saying to omit it, but on the other hand it's so damn interesting a thing to talk about and nothing in it seems to conflict with subsequent material so it's not like it was removed as a retcon but more of a "Oops, I shouldn't have revealed that yet" type thing... it is one of those odd details to discus about when a new reader "should" look into it, especially now in a world were Miura has passed away and we'll never know if there was going to be a point where he re-interoduced the details from that chapter in full, or if he'd re-add it once the Manga was finished, or what(unless that is part of the planned story that the folks working to finish it are in the know about)

Quick add. You may ask what about all the foreshadowing such as the behelit or Griffith himself? Well Miura himself admitted he incorporated that into the story after. while writing black swordsman he wasn't really focused on the overall story or Guts as a character but on how Guts would fight like him using the huge sword or the canon in his arm etc.
