Since I am not familiar with the story I had to really think and decide if I wanted to continue watching the video. So, after a long time (couple of weeks) I decided to continue. Not sure if I will ever read the trilogy but curiosity has me back watching this. I still am confused as to the nature of JADE. Is it a liquid to be ingested? OR a physical material to carry with you?

I would love it if you dropped the hat again in the next set of merch. I work in a pizzeria and my current one has seen some shit. Would love to have a pristine cap to wear on days off.

2025-10-26 05:18:25 +0000 UTCto be fair, I am overly cautious when it comes to YT cause this is my living, but also it's specifically suicide that YouTube is crazy sensitive to. Literally even saying the word can ding you which in my opinion only stigmatizes talking about it more. Which is a bad thing! People who need help need to be able to talk about it, but on the corporate level, they don't want videos making money talking about suicide recklessly so I also KINDA understand why they are so sensitive. It's just a massively imperfect fix.

For me it was more the way Hilo thought about it and framed it. It was more, "the water being dirty is a reflection of your people" so it's kinda a both being true thing if that makes any sense? Basically Hilo sounds like a dick when thinking it to himself.

I have only one minor thing, and you can feel free to ignore me, but when you were talking about when Hilo was in the country where Zpoinio is and you mention the fact that Hilo didn’t want to drink because he’s racist, I’m not sure that’s the reason. Don’t get me wrong, Hilo defiantly is prejudice to outsiders, but I always found the untrustworthy water detail as a cool world building fact. Ive been to eight third-world nations multiple times and it’s just wise/a fact not to drink the water there (only bottles) because you honestly don’t know how it is and don’t want to get sick. So when I read this part, I interpreted it as a cool world building note from Fonda Lee that shows that particular nation isn’t as industrialized as Kekon and that simple detail note helped make a better mental picture of the culture/society, and it didn’t have anything to do with prejudice, just practical. I mean obviously Hilo really is prejudice against those dude in his own thoughts in that same scene, but I think the two things are unrelated and you miss out on a fun minor world building detail. Feel free to disagree or ignore me haha, still love what you do!

So now I’m about to jump back in to Jade Legacy, and I am so excited that I have these Daniel Greenebone summaries to remind me of everything.
