Bird by Bird is a reference to a wonderful book by an American author named Anne Lamott, "Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life." I love how Jason & Brendan give nods to so many lesser-known (certainly in the sports world) female greats.

I've read quite a bit about how it was somewhat "experimental", almost throwaway episode. I've learned a lot from viewers who loved this episode like Jesus above. I love learning, so thanks once again for opening my eyes!

I'm of the opinion that they did, with the pants being shown at the end being confirmation of it. This episode is a bit polarizing to viewers with some loving it and some not. It's one of my favorites and it's an homage to one of Martin Scorsese's lesser known films called After Hours. Similar things happen, guy gets off work and has a series of wild encounters. The name of the episode even references it

2024-03-27 00:57:28 +0000 UTCI don’t think it’s too much of a spoiler now to say- this and the Christmas episode were ordered outside of the original 8 episode order, when Apple asked for 2 more episodes. So that’s why they don’t advance the storyline and feel different from the others.
