Obviously KIng Sweyn and Prince Canute (or rather Cnut) were real, but even the guy we saw at the end is based on a real figure, Thorfinn is VERY loosely based on someone, the old guy in iceland telling them about VInland is THE LEIF ERIKSON and even Askeladd shares a very similar backstory to a real person.

That like father like son quote gave me goosebumps and it was nice seeing Thorfinn reminisce about something positive. That last scene LETS GOOO ENTER THORKELL THE TALL! Can't wait for you guys to catch up to the latest!

2025-01-09 18:49:15 +0000 UTCthe fun thing about this show is that there are no bad guys. everyone is doing what they do for a reason, and sure you could argue some reasons are better than others but just like in real life no one is inherently evil. everyone has some good to them, and this show does such a good job of humanising everyone, regardless of how 'bad' they are. like askeladd. like thorfinn. objectively speaking thorfinn is a horrible person, hes murdered probably dozens and feels no regret for it. but the way the show frames it makes you question whether a bad person is really something that even exists, or whether its just bad circumstances. and that is one of the big reasons this show is just. so good
