Sarah Pavan (Beach Volleyball World Champion) said in her Haikyuu reaction that the better you get the more you watch the opponents, not the ball. Which probably is true for most ball sports. You just need to see the direction the ball flies, after that you get no information from it. The best hints you can get are always from opponents. And if you get good at reading and adapting, you see a lot of differences in movements from opponents which make your reads more successful. AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARA :)

Prez- for some reason the "๐Ÿ˜†thats not what he meant"....to immediate cut of Hinata "๐Ÿ˜ซโ˜  thatsnotwhatimeant" sold me you really are a Bokuto soul. had that happened in training camp, Bokuto would've had the exact same reaction and timing.

OH and 12:10 shiratorizawa's #12 is kawanishi taichi, he gets a few moments here and there in the anime but he's spoken about a lot more in the manga. he's tendou's successor LMAO the other shiratorizawa middle blocker and in the manga tendou instructs him the same way semi (#3 gray hair) instructs shirabu. in manga player stats tendou is actually the weakest link in shiratorizawa, the three best players are ushijima, semi and yamagata (their libero), but that only means everyone is GOOD if tendou is the weakest link cause he's a great player

bella

it's also kind of implied through the other players' body language, they all flinched as soon as the coach called kenjirou over

bella

OH and shirabu does admire oikawa despite his philosophy which i think is so cute. speaking of, OIKAWA AND IWAIZUMI CAMEO <3

bella

the anime actually cut out a bit of shirabu's backstory. he studied his ass off to pass the shiratorizawa entrance exam and he's the only one on the team without a sports scholarship, everyone else was recruited. the coach also says that in this particular shiratorizawa team a setter who stands out like Oikawa and Kageyama isn't needed (which is important to understand Semi, #3, later on), but also Shirabu isn't exactly passive. he's steady and reliable and his ultimate goal is to make ushijima stand out, not stand out himself which is what the coach ultimately wanted.

bella

People tend to miss what's implied in the interaction between the Shiratorizawa coach and Kenjiro (the setter) at the beginning of the episode. The coach calls him over, says "you already know." Kenjiro walks away and says "if this were a practice match I would've gotten slapped across the face," then slaps himself. In other words, the Shiratorizawa coach is VERY oldschool and physically abuses his athletes. However, because it's a televised match (not a practice match without cameras), he doesn't hit the kid and instead tells him he needs to hit himself. Pretty messed up.
