I agree entirely with Prez. I always didn't like Kana for that reason, even with all the real struggles. Either make it or break it, and she made it. Kana is amazing, but I am still Team Akane

2026-02-18 22:49:11 +0000 UTCI was really really worried when Kana runs off without even saying anything from the reporter. Mind you, I don't think she should be explaining herself. That's why the reporter sent an email to Strawberry Productions so that he could cover his ass since right now all he has is conjecture. But I did think she should at least be telling him off along the lines of "I don't answer reporters unless it's an official interview." type of dismissal. But in retrospect on watching it with ya'll the second time. While I do think running off in a panic is obviously not a SMART choice (we understand, she's really been in her head for awhile now so she reacted emotionally). She does have ONE thing going for her. She actually never speaks *at all*. That reporter may have been recording but he didn't actually capture her voice. At best he would have captured noises - which could have been anyone. So at the very least, while it does *LOOK BAD* for the reporter... he didn't actually gain any damning evidence that it's her in particular beyond the photo's he already had. So she at least has that going for her. I am also very, very worried about her hand-bag being left behind. That I think is the most damning evidence available against her right now. Because she does have a text thread with the one actress that screwed her over about going to meet up with him. So if someone DOES get her phone, identify it's hers, and get access to it... THAT could be pretty bad. All of that said... I DON'T think the last shot, with the Dad looking at a phone is related to Kana. I actually originally thought the direction was that Kana would be his next target after last episode. But I'm starting to think that's actually a red herring. I paused and compared Aqua's "location pin" to the Dad's "location pin" and the Dad is looking at an area with lots of buildings. So I don't think it can be Kana. That said... I think the pin might somehow be Akane. I'm not sure how that possible (though I suspect it might have something to do with the flowers he left for her at the award ceremony a couple episodes ago). Which means shes in GREAT DANGER if he's somehow put together that she's investigating him then she will be the #1 target for him to off next. Side-note, during your last discussion you theorized that Ruby may have orchestrated the Kana paparazzi situation. While I personally don't THINK she did... after this episode it did occur to me that IF she did it, she COULD have a motivation (which was my main reason for not thinking it was her). If she did it, I think the motive might be something along the lines of: "If Dad arranged Mom's death because he's against Idol's holding relationships... Or if he's against B-Komachi in particular. Then I can find out who he is by making another Idol have a scandal in B-Komachi". aka, she'd be using Kana as bait for the father. Which uh... is pretty fucked, obviously. Since she's putting Kana's life in danger. But even before she turned "Cold and Calculating" at the end of last season she has ALWAYS been very reckless. So I could see her making a unwise choice like that, especially now that she's confident that she "understands how the biz works". Thanks for coming to my ted-talk, I guess? TL;DR: 1) I don't think the reporter has proof he talked to Kana specifically. 2) I think the Dad's location pin at the end might be Akane... which is very spooky for her 3) I still don't think Ruby orchestrated Kana's defamation. But I do recognize now that she does have a potential motive to do it, even if it's a REALLY BAD idea, imho.
