Early access - 10 EASY Ways to Make Modular Terrain CHEAPER and FASTER.

Hi Guys!

Quick one this time - I got it done in 5 days even with two days of editing/uploading! (why yes, editing does take forever πŸ˜…)

This video has 10 different tips that I've either realised myself, come across or otherwise given as advice on an individual basis to someone - so hopefully combined there's something for everyone from beginners to advanced :)

Please let me know what you think of the video, either here or on Youtube - I may do more of these tip videos if it does ok, it's a nice quick one I can make to lessen the gap between bigger projects.

I hope this is useful to you guys, or at the very least give you some zen crafting background while you work on your latest project, whatever it may be!

Thanks for the detailed feedback Matt! It really helps :) I'll see how it does on YouTube, but if it goes at least decently I think I'll do more.

Definitely the surebonder (the green one I've linked in the equipment list now alongside the original blue one) The blue one is decent, but the bonder is just so much more accurate and easy to place magnets with.

I enjoyed the video and tips. If nothing else, it's nice to collect these type of tips into a single place, especially as you improve the ways you do things. These tips were definitely good call-outs and reminders on some majorly impactful parts of this hobby, especially time vs cost and detail vs time. I know I am guilty of trying to make things perfect, even though "good enough" will still work great on the table. Creating miniature terrain is both a really great creative and engineering exercise, but also the end goal is to have a tool to make it easier and more fun to tell stories with everyone at the table after all. Creating jigs for consistently making mass-produced pieces, especially tiles and walls, is so very very important for both speed and consistency. I have a pile of templates for marking out cut lines, doors, windows, and other things that have really saved me a lot of potential mistakes because I thought about it hard once and can just reuse that effort in the future. I like how simple your jigs are, but are still useful. Much nicer than some of my jigs that are way over-engineered... Overall, I liked the video and would be perfectly fine with more in the future. The bonus of it being easier to produce between your other stuff is definitely nice as well. Ta!

Did you ever figure out which hot glue gun you preferred? My wife’s is breaking and I figured I might as well jump to buy a good one.
