Comparable hacking stuff happened to me last year...I also cracked a program and 1-2 weeks of work getting everything back really cost energy ^^" That's our price for being cheeky and trying to get a program for free. I will never try that again...2FA and stuff I am since then using too...as annoying as it sometimes is...

I'm always very careful when it comes to downloading software and visiting websites that I have never been to before. I'm glad to hear though that it has not shaken your devotion to the project and that you have a good support group. And don't worry, everyone makes mistakes.
