Dev Diary #8 - The Final Countdown to 0.6.0

While some of you might be anticipating another dev diary, today’s update is a bit different—it's the final countdown to the release of 0.6.0!
I’m happy to share that I'm finally happy with the overall script, structure, and CGs of this update. But now also comes some real grind.
What is the Countdown?
A lot happens when pulling all the different elements into one cohesive chapter. There are often some small tweaks and iterations needed as I get a real sense of how well everything flows (or doesn't!).
Almost certainly, I'll need to do some extra CG work and the script will go through a few more rounds of copyediting but it's a very exciting stage! ✍️
Unless I make significant cuts during editing, this update is set to be the largest yet. It even expands on a couple of past scenes, and you might have noticed the improved resolution in the last couple of previews. Expect some resizing and even reworking of a few previous scenes to ensure consistency and polish across the board.
The one aspect I'll need to park for the 0.6.0 release is animations, as they are incredibly time-consuming. I plan to explore new tools but more on that later.
A subtle fun-fact but I know a few of you noticed by looking at previous CG preview so i wanted to mention it:
Yes, MC/Kento's banana has been slightly upgraded (average size). It's a small change, a tiny tweak that isn't central to the narrative, but addresses a past short-coming in the CGs. Rest assured, Terrace is still Terrace, never coming up short on personality. And you know what that means... (or do you?)
I don't care about all that, give me the timeline!
Look at previous countdowns but realistically, given the scale of this update and the fact I'm doing this solo coupled with a particularly hectic month personally, expect this countdown to be on the longer side, like last one was.

The point is to avoid making that a centrepiece in the story - which was never the goal. That specific shot maybe could use more attention but remember that it doesn't appear in-game.

2024-08-12 20:37:14 +0000 UTCIt doesn't look like a slight upgrade in that car cg. His D got significantly (like 2 times, from 4inch to 8inch) bigger. It wouldn't have mattered if it had been like that from the beginning, but it is a bit of a meh move to change it that much now when it had been the smaller size from the very beginning of the game. I also prefer for there to be more contrast between Terrace and MC. There would have been much more charm to Ayumi still preferring MC size over Terrace and MC being better for Ayumi in bed if MC was smaller.

I am a little worried that this may not reflect the characteristics of the terrace. As in the previous text, only after eating salad do people want to taste steak. If it was already steak before, although it may be a small piece of steak, it lacks the strong contrast between steak and salad, which is exciting. I don't know how you solved this problem, but I hope it can be expressed in a more exciting way。By the way, I don't know much English, so it was translated by AI. 2024-08-12 06:36:32 +0000 UTCsadly i think similar to devious, if the animations are a delay, i would prefer to add it once the game is finished make them and upgrade of the game, i love your work tori, and the less i want is to see you falling in the desease of the art creators and patreon owners, delaying the game so much is taking years and years only to go back and rebuild everything again. nevertheless i love your work and i support you in your quest, but be careful with the desease...

2024-08-12 04:40:11 +0000 UTCPersonally, I dislike when Animations start causing delays and would honestly prefer the effort go into writing and CG quality, but that's my opinion. I know there's many out there who really want animations even to the detriment of release quantity and overall quality.
