Project research
Added 2024-04-18 01:04:38 +0000 UTCI've been spending the past few days reading to get inspiration for a new project, since I want to make something with more depth and story behind it (like my centaur comics have had). It's going to be with werewolves so if anyone has any reading material or just wants to weigh in with suggestions, feel free to drop those in the comments :)

2024-04-19 10:38:02 +0000 UTCI’ve never found it satisfying tbh because there’s no real interesting dynamic with 2 werewolves, you might as well just have 2 humans for all the difference it makes. The difference in species and behaviours/psychology is one of the best parts imo

2024-04-19 06:28:29 +0000 UTCLOL, that’s relatable! XD I didn’t know what I was doing in the game half the time, but I was like “OMG WOLVES!!” and that was enough for me XDDD And sure thing! I think the werewolf mockumentary was called “Werewolves: The Dark Survivors”. From what I could find, that seems the most similar to what I remember and the year I could have watched it. It’s a bit cheesy and medical in places, but I remember being fascinated with how seriously they treated the concept when I was younger. Really adds depth to werewolves. If you want something a bit more scientific, I think the old episode of Animal Planet’s “The Most Extreme”, called “Leaders”, has a section about wolves in it, and that show made me obsessed with the natural world XDD I managed to find that specific episode on YouTube I think Also, I believe there’s another documentary I saw bits and pieces of from like 2005 called “Living with Wolves” - I think that’s the one about a couple who live in a yurt for a while and observe wolves XD (WOW I sure did suggest a lot! XDDD I wish poor neurodivergent child me could get a glimpse of me now, ranting about Animal Planet so someone can make some handsome werewoofs. You’re doing all the old ~weird~ kids proud, my friend! XD)

2024-04-19 04:14:56 +0000 UTCI just finished reading Wolfsong and Ravensong, both by TJ Klune and from the same series. I'm not sure how strongly I'd recommend them (I'm a very picky reader and harsh critic), but they had interesting ideas and dynamics in them that sparked some inspiration in my brain! I read a couple other books this week as well but they were all mediocre at best and no werewolf-related in any way, unfortunately :')

2024-04-19 04:02:28 +0000 UTCPlease share! I absolutely devour books and stories when I'm hunting for inspiration so I'll add them to my list :)

2024-04-19 04:00:42 +0000 UTCI feel the same way!! I always feel disappointed when the story ends with the human turning because it never feels like it was necessary. Do you think there would be exceptions to this, or does it always take away from the story for you?

2024-04-19 03:59:43 +0000 UTCEven snippets of ideas can spark my inspiration - if not for this project then always for another! I like the idea of two power bottoms figuring it out >:)

2024-04-19 03:58:00 +0000 UTCWolfquest brings back childhood memories!! I was always the kid in the lobby who just button smashed because I was too young to understand how to play :') If you can recall any of the names of the documentaries at some point I'd be super grateful! I know little about wolves but I want to take inspiration from their behaviour, so I'll be sinking time into building up my knowledge about them

2024-04-19 00:25:12 +0000 UTCI have books recs, also some werewolf fanfics on AO3. In my opinion AO3 is the best.

2024-04-18 19:20:10 +0000 UTCHuman x werewolf scenarios are always supreme, though a lot of them are spoiled by the human turning into a werewolf which I feel like misses the point of the dynamic

2024-04-18 06:56:55 +0000 UTCMe thinking two power bottoms fighting to be bottoms and not tops. But you literally asking for examples of work. It’s late and I’m dumb. I’m thinking omega Verse (manga) but then Zootopia. Ignore me ☠️

2024-04-18 03:15:32 +0000 UTCAs far as artistic inspiration, maybe a movie like “Balto” or a game like “Wolfquest”, since those helped me get into a canine frame of mind years and years ago 😂 And as far as scientific research, maybe check out some past Animal Planet shows and things! I remember them having good info about wolves, and I think a werewolf mockumentary, too I was the weird werewolf kid 😂😂😂
