I think you and your notebook are doing a great job of replicating the original viewing experience. It's a very dense show with a lot of characters and even more secrets.

There are actually 3 seasons of this show although the last one came out like 25 years after the second. So glad to see your reviewing this classic show which really started a whole new generation of television

I cannot dissociate his music from Lynch's work, the same way Ennio Morricone is spaghetti westerns and Danny Elfman is Tim Burton's films. I thought maybe Alley had heard it before because Twin Peaks theme is super famous and recently (lol probably 10 years ago) Bastille put it on their mixtape album. I remember it was really haunting set to The Breakfast Club dialogue.
