Here, have an episode 15 minutes early! How awfully generous of me!
Among designers, few modern games are held in such high regard as the PS2 cult classic, Ico. Let's figure out what has made this quiet and reserved game so hugely influential.
Another lovely episode. Mark, I find it odd that the video opens and closes with Sword & Sworcery but you don't mention it at all otherwise. It does seem to fit a minimalist design theme but perhaps it didn't fit into the storyline of games in which aspects of it were removed to support a core mechanic.

Yes! Lovely video.
I place myself firmly in the camp of designers inspired to cut away at their designs, thanks to Ueda's approach with Ico. It lead me to make Luminesca ( www.luminesca.com ) very much in this same vein of design, I believe.
