One Piece eps 803/804 | Things are heating up!!!

I don't know if any of us were ready or prepared for watching Sanji's actual childhood backstory. It wasn't just hard watching it was brutal and cruel! Even for my dad found it hard to watch, most of the other backstories we've seen up to this point was extremely hard to watch. I hope you both had a breathe after the episode or had some me time as it's a lot to take in. Also I get what both of you are trying to say. Lol

The only kind people in Sanji's childhood was his mom and sister. I think we now see why Sanji has high regard for women.

This is why I think Oda created the greatest story ever told. He doesn’t just teach you lessons — he lets you experience them, reflect, and draw your own point of view. His writing can even spark debates between two successful parents about raising children. He never tells, he shows. You can see how he portrays violence as a form of love, shown through Zoro and upbringing with his father and brothers. I also agree with what was said earlier in the comments — Sanji’s obsession with women started in childhood and, as he grew into a teenager, developed into a more perverted aspect. That’s just amazing character writing. One of the reasons I came back to your Patreon is because in episode 505 you both said some beautiful things that made me realize you truly understood Oda’s writing. That said, in this episode there were a moments where I thought, oh, you’re still underestimating Oda. But honestly, that’s what makes him such a great writer — I still underestimate him. He’s made me feel the true meaning of the saying “chills down my spine,” and I hope he does the same for you. Of course, everyone has different tastes and opinions, but that’s the power of Oda’s storytelling.

Well we saw Yonji simping for Nami so I think that’s a Vinsmoke-men thing in general; but I think his *respect* for women in general (not including what Zef taught him) comes from the fact that the only 2 people who ever showed him real kindness or affection were his mother and sister

This arc ties up perfectly many of Sanji personal traits we see throughout the series. If you think about it, the only ones in his family that treat him well were his mother and sister, maybe thats why Sanji always puts women first. He also has little regard for his own life and sacrifices himself for the sake of others a lot, maybe because he grew up hearing he was useless and should die.

I think I understand what Heather means, even if they are not our biological "father" or "mother" we can have different parental figures, I think for example about Luffy who grew up without a biological mother, but Dandadan (Dadan) was his motherly figure, he also didn't grow up with Dragon, and he sometimes got beaten up by Garp, but his fatherly figure was Shanks. Now we know Sanji lost his mother at a young age, we can probably blame his love for women on that, and he lost his father as well since he was abandoned and not loved, but his fattherly figure was Zeff, who taught him how to cook better and not to hit women. It's all about the examples kids see from adults in general.

Sanji’s mom had a photo of all the kids behind her bed, which we see when Sanji comes to bring her the meal he made her You guys will get all the answers soon as to why the kids are the way they are🤭
