Some trivia: This episode marked the first appearance of the final version of the Starfleet uniforms used in the series. The seams running down the sides of the chest were removed, the shoulder pads were made smaller, and an elastic waistband was added to the bottom of the uniform top. Captain Picard is the only one wearing the updated uniform in this episode. Susan Gibney (Dr. Leah Brahms) auditioned for the roles of Counselor Deanna Troi and Lt. Tasha Yar before Marina Sirtis and Denise Crosby were cast respectively.

Picard's animated response in the discovery of the ship in the beginning of the episode was cool. The technology discussion seemed esoteric at times but not too much. A very nice touch w/the creative simplicity of the sling-shot maneuver -- agree a super cool moment of the episode and for Picard. The hologram (facsimile) was pretty and animated. Geordi's interaction (including the kiss) with the facsimile a little weird to me. Yet, I guess could be good practice and a confidence builder.
