Ranking #42 on the AFI, Bonnie and Clyde (1967) absolutely lived up to its legendary status. BYE BYE HAYS CODE, for real! Seems like this film was bold and pushed in a new era of unapologetic storytelling. I have long anticipated watching this iconic movie, and it exceeded all my expectations.

Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty had an instant connection on screen that is magnetic, and you actually believe the attraction. The story is filled with thrilling high-stakes adventure and a complicated love story that feels both passionate and volatile. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions, exhilarating and heartbreaking. It was a fearless blend of romance, violence, and social commentary, alongside its technical brilliance, with amazing direction, innovative editing, and cinematography that fit the story beat by beat. Real raw grit amplifies the tension and intimacy of the story. Iconic end scene, with its slow-motion death, will forever remain etched in my brain and cinematic history. I forgot Gene Hackman was in this, so that was an added bonus! The supporting cast, including Estelle Parsons, adds depth, bringing humour and tragedy to the gang’s dynamic.
The film must have taken liberties in its storytelling, but I think it all worked. It was raw, emotional truth, and with all the mixed emotions that sat on me after the film ended (LIKE THAT), it truly impacted me in ways that were surprising. That was one unforgettable ride, with characters you started to love, but disagreed with, but you were in for the ride and felt like you were there with them. But then I felt heartbroken, with their rebellious love ending in tragedy.
I ramble a lot in my outro. lol. ENJOY!
