I would love to see you watch "One Piece 1000 logs", is a Youtube special with 5 episodes in celebration of the 1000 episodes, they have about 4 to 8 minutes, really very beautiful! From this point it's safe to watch, of course it's just a suggestion! Thanks for the reaction 😁

A very interesting character for sure from early on, especially for someone like me that has done a couple of mini “analysis” for characters like Zoro, Luffy, Big Mom etc (and many other characters not from One Piece). Based on the little that I know so far, I wouldn’t call Yamato transgender. Like you summarised (and I theorised about briefly in the video) it seems more like Oden = freedom (in Yamato’s mind) and therefore to be free, Yamato believes “I have to become Oden” (this is just a theory based on their introduction, of course). It’s an interesting parallel to Luffy who also wants to be the king of the pirates because “that is the most free person”. And although Shanks was a big inspiration for Luffy as a child, he didn’t want to “become Shanks”. But one could argue that Luffy had an “easier” childhood than Yamato (once again, just a theory based on what I imagine kaido would be like as a dad… I don’t imagine Yamato got the same beatings as Garp’s “love fist” hahaha)… so that kind of upbringing might’ve cultivated an intense desire for escape… in that frame of mind, or that kind of “mental soil”, planting the memory of Oden being boiled alive to save the people he loves… well, I’m not surprised that Yamato sees Oden, the man who’s spirit never bowed in front of orochi and kaidos evil ways and cruel punishment, as ultimate freedom. A child’s mind is an interesting thing…

2022-07-14 22:45:42 +0000 UTCI agree with your assessment that Yamato should have his/her own personality and not be an Oden clone. Yamato not only wants to be a man like Oden but also has Oden as his/her favourite dish. That is why I share your belief that Yamato is a very different case than a normal transgender person and more like an extreme version of a fanboy. Yamato wants to be free and go on adventures like Oden did. Something Yamato couldn`t achieve because of Kaidos oppression. So becoming Oden was in my point of view some kind of coping mechanism to not fall into total despair for Yamato. Some kind of ray of hope that a free Iife could be possible for the child of Kaido. I wish that Yamato learns that for being free he/she hasn`t to become Oden but can have his/her own personality. That conflict isn`t a bad thing in my point of view because personality flaws make a character unique and leaves the possibilty for character development.

You could watch that, after you watch the actual episode. Since that was in fact made in celebration of the milestone. Maybe something a bit bigger but there is that as a start

2022-07-14 13:08:00 +0000 UTCThe chopper vs bigmom Episode is mainly filler, I think in the manga its only like some panels how they run from her so maybe thats why it felt so out of place, I mean big mom using a frikin rocket in a fight is pretty weird xd

I think the "annoying" parts of her personality work really well because she acts like that out of genuine sister love so instead of being truly annoying it just ends up being a charming kind of annoying lol. Also, her simple mindedness and explosive jump-into-action personality are a tiny bit like Luffy's so maybe we Luffy fans just end up liking her subconsciously because of that lol

Like what would have happened if she never see’s Oden at all or if at the moment she sees Oden she doesn’t think he is cool?
