Dhrameek (Kenku Adventurer)

Kenku are derived from avion breed. They are sentient humanoid bird creatures uncapable of flight and are counted to the so-called civilised races. Dhrameek is known to be a wanderer and adventurer carrying along the journey a wide array of potent herbs and mushrooms as well a nest of eggs on top of his hat. Whether this is some kind of provision or if these are his very offspring he keeps to himself.

Elena (forearm-blade fighter)

Elena was found orphaned upon the steps leading to a temple, way down in one of the southern kingdoms near the great desert. She was raised by the priests, who brought her up to be their instrument of sacrifice, a virgin to spill blood in the name of their dark gods. She killed her first man in the age of fourteen and was given enchanted fore-arm-blades that never blunt or dull as a reward. A few years later she had grown into a beautyful woman and a deadly fighter. Now equipped with perfectly fitting armour parts and sprouting blades everywhere, she was an embodiment of death himself. At a great ritual in the temple, however, it was the priesthood, who had to let their blood at the bladepoint of Elena. Maybe it was the pleaing look of her would-be victims that changed her heart. Whatever it was, Elena decided that day to end the dark rites of the priests once and for all.

Ravhald of Giva (human warlock)

When Ravhald of Giva was born, his eyes displayed a certain hue of colour, showing to the wise he would inevitably become one of the mightiest warlocks to have ever lived. He was trained to fight, lectured in the magic arts and prepared for greatness. As a youth he became friends with Delionne, the bard, and Count Giobaldo and soon thereafter was betrothed to a young noble woman named Silveria. When he went off to seek adventure and greatness he was inertwined into complicated politics, affairs and grave dangers. He fell in love with Genevieve, had to patronise a girl, save some kingdoms and more. But that is legend...

Cockatrice

A Cockatrice comes into being when the egg of a cock is hatched by a toad or serpent. It resembles a chicken or cock with the lower body of a lizard with a long scaled tail. A cockatrice is able of flight with its wings, some feathery, some batlike. It is said to have a smell to melt metal with or let plants rot at once in it’s vicinity and a look upon which other beings are turned into stone. Luckily these creatures are very rare and can only be killed by being shown it’s own reflection in a mirror.

Dire Ram

A Dire Ram is not just a large ram, sheep or goat. It is much larger than any of its kind and almost furless. Instead its considerable sinewy muscle built shows everyone what it is capable of. It is driven by a mad lust to ram any sentient being with its eyes turned in different directions and its muzzle dripping with foam. It exhales hot fume from it’s nostrils and scratches the ground with the hooves before starting its attack run.

Genevieve (female human warlock)

The Lady of Kestrels, as Genevieve is also known, is one of the most capable female magic users throughout the kingdoms and a superior member of the magic circle. She is a good friend to Silveria and a love interest to Ravhald of Giva, which complicates her relationship to both of them. She usually is wearing clothes in her colours: black and white, but recently she is also seen in a red gown. Her title, Lady of Kestrels, is not merely honorary, as a flock of kestrels guards Genevieve’s tower and prolong her sight on her bidding.

Krukhnir (spiked dragon)

Spiked Dragons live on the highest mountains or in caves near the peaks where the spikes aid them in climbing the sheer rockfaces, icy glaciers and giant boulders. They are taciturn guardians of their mountain realms, where they live in whole clans. While in theory they are able to spit fire, they very seldom make use of this ability. Krukhnir is one specimen who has shown his mastery of this inner fire, when he burned a whole party of woodworkers, who came to cut trees at the foot of the mountain realm of Krukhnir’s clan.

Female Werebeast

With many a beast not the wisest can tell whether it is male or female. Claws, spikes muscle and fur make it almost impossible to determine. But the Werebeast that haunts the western kingdoms these days and more often the nights clearly shows some female attributes. It could be an unsuspecting milk maid that transforms into this beast at a certain stellar position or a farmers daughter who ate some magic herbs in the woods. Mayhap it is even a highborn lady cursed by an evil wizard or sorceror to bring pain and death to those she loves.

Silveria (female mage)

One of the highest ranking wizards in the academy, Silveria was born to a noble family. She quickly found her knack for spell weaving as a child and today teaches apprentices about the mysteries of magic. Silveria is friendly and good hearted and it seemed everything would go smoothly in her life until she was betrothed to Ravhald of Giva. From then on her life became that much more complicated, as Ravhald had other matters to clear first and then there was another woman in Ravhald’s life: Genevieve, which happened to be her best friend.

Daena (dual sword wielder)

Daena knows how to look after herself, be it at a duel, a real fight or by earning a living. She offers show-fights and duels on any marketplace she passes, rarely losing to her often hotheaded opponents. Somehow she seems to have always one more trick up her sleeve. She fights with dual swords, which are excellently balanced and matched and made for her as a gift from a wandering smith, who she rescued from the attack of some feral goblins. Daena always strifes to perfect her technique and while she tends to be bored by many a challenger, it is the defeats from which she learns most.

Levedith (succubus)

A Succubus is a demon seductress that visits young men in their dreams. Levedith is a dream or nightmare come true in her demonic armour that still is more revealing than covering. She specialises on the souls of warriors of any kind, be they knights, paladins, fighter mages, warlocks or even barbarians. She first toys with her prey in a mock battle, then let the would-be-winner overcome her and take her as a trophy. Finally when the „winner“ takes his price and is diverted, Levedith renders their body with her claws and drinks their souls in deeply.

Bori van Gilden (dwarf mercenary)

Dwarves are ironclad fighters small of stature, but with immense strength. They have long beards they never cut, love gold, beer, and prefer to keep to themselves. The dwarven mercenary Bori van Gilden is somewhat different. Of course he likes gold, too, but he would not dig for it. He likes fancy, fashionable clothes, a short cut groomed beard and he prefers a good goblet of fine wine over a pint of beer. It is when you see him wield his double headed axe he shows his true heritage.

Gazzmal (ork warlock)

Gazzmal is a warlock of considerable power, but when there is talk about warlocks or witchers, it is always the name of Ravhald of Giva, that is mentioned. After a few years it began to unnerve the ork and he declared Ravhald his personal rival and enemy. Although the both of them have never met, Gazzmal has begun to follow the tracks of Ravhald, to hunt him down and be free of his legacy. The big ork is accompanied by his familiar and spy, Verax, the raven.

Ettin (two headed ogre)

Ettin are ogres with two heads, but it is not that simple. Are the Ettin a race of their own, or are they a special breed of ogres? There are Ettin where both heads can control the whole body and those where they are restricted to only half the body. In some cases only the dominant head controls the muscular movement of the limbs and the other merely it’s jaw and facial expressions. In very rare cases even three headed Ettin have been seen, still what causes the ogres to grow multiple heads is an unsolved mystery.

Kron (barbarian warlord)

A bulk of a man in crude barabaric armour with a whole arsenal of the most powerful weaponry, Kron fought hard to reach his place as a warlord among the barbarian tribes, where only strength, cunning and prowess in battle count. He has already seen countless battles and adventures and always proofed victorious. Kron is driven by a prophecy that ensured him he would once crown himself king, even if he would have to steal his crown and usurp the throne.

Delionne (human bard)

Bards are known to be the ones to introduce the heroic deeds of others into legend and lore. But also they have a tendency to mock the great and famous and many a song about the amorous advances of an ugly baron or the cowardice of a would-be hero has spread like wildfire throughout the realms. Delionne is a friend to Ravhald of Giva. They have known each other since their adulescence and although Delionne likes Ravhald, he likes to mock him in his songs even more.

Kara (pipe smoking dancer)

Dancing for the next meal or dancing for a prince or king. The only difference to Kara is if it is fun for her. And the right payment, of course. This lively girl enjoyes life to the fullest. She radiates an aura of happiness and delight. Her attributes as well as the proficency of her art let her interact with peers she would otherwise never have met. Kara also displays a sharp wit and her advices are even heard in highest society. She does not, however, hold back and dares to say, what she thinks, often while smoking a good pipe of tobacco.

Count Giobaldo (fighting nobleman)

When still a young noble, the family of Count Giobaldo was robbed of its wealth and ancient lands by war and envious other nobles, who pretended to help them. All Count Giobaldo could save was the heirloom sword, some armour and most importantly to him a golden chain with the coat of arms of his house. Leading the life of an adventurer he still exudes the demeanor of a highborn nobleman. During his adventures he befriended Ravhald and Delionne, forming a triumvirat to be reckonned with.

Keoghradan (necromantic spirit)

Far to the north a legend is told of an evil spirit that haunts the lands, destroys crops and cattle alike and even commands the dead to it’s side to do its bidding. It resembles the body of a human being clad in rags with a bold bearded head from afar, but with every akward step it comes nearer, the spectator will realise there is nothing human about this creature with the bare skull of a ram for a head. It’s hands are more claws and it’s feet are mere stumps, while it’s skin looks more like withered wood than flesh. It is adorned with several skulls and almost always accompanied by two growling wolves. They call it Kreoghradan, the headtaker in one of the old languages.

Nautrir (minotaurus)

Most Minotaurs come from the lands to the south that border on the warm southsea or from the isles and islands therein. Nautrir however derives from a small island to the northeast, where his tribe has dwelled for ages. A misty and moist land with rocky outcrops forms a hardened stamina and a taciturn people. Thus Nautrir is a not a bull of many words, easy to anger, but also easy to go along with, his hammeraxe always by his side to defend those he seees as his friends and companions.
