Ellori, the Ero Witch of Parthun - Chapter 65

Nice Mythos note about world there :) - Adds to Harpy slaves she said she saw. So they did exist then! SO i would guess prob placed in Beastfolk category then, considering on head is dog

Yep, anubians take inspiration from the Egyptian Anubis, they would appear as humanoid creatures with dark skin and a jackal for a head. In Talmora, the northern region of Saquin and High Saquin takes inspiration from Egyptian culture in general. Since the Council of Kings is so pro-humanity to the point of racism, and both Saquin and High Saquin being places of human civilization, the implications here are that living anubians have been wiped out to extinction. That's why for Ellori it was seeing it in person vs likely seeing it in her studies.

Oh, yeah I also thought they wouldn't refer to themselves as such obviously, just this is first time "half-beasts" has been brought up (POV Ellori), so I was wondering about Human classification between the two Beastfolk would also work :) - though wouldnt have guessed that issue with "Beastmen"- suppose I'm so used to terminology from other fiction about the fantasy races. Considering its been introduced later after some races that are bit gray area (which is why brought up centaurs above in reference to "halves"), and hay - "girl power!" lol, having it as Beastfolk or Beastkin for general terminology by humans for new, closer to "Human" races is a good fit ======================================== Oh, but i figured that the Anubians were still a species that existed in the world (or used to), it being just these ones were magic constructs? - part reason why she could identify them & having an actual biology like sim related species. That and it was nice addition to fantasy races, with reference to Eygpt IF that's still true (they exist or once did), then would they be "demi-humans" or "Beastfolk" ?

Humans call demihumans the same way they categorize insects (not derogatory), but there are many different species and just lumped into a universal terminology. Orcs and goblins, elves and centaurs, etc would never refer to each other as demihumans, that terminology is a human construct. It is why Sheila refers to Gale as a dark elf, and not "fellow demihuman." The anubians seen in the first tower were magical constructs, so they're about alive as a clay golem created from alchemy. You're right, instead of half-beasts, beastkin would sound better. Beastfolk would also, however, i'd probably avoid saying beastmen, since it could be confusing with the continuity that centaurs, orcs, goblins, and kobolds from the Weeping Expanse are a male only race.

So what's the difference between half-beasts & demi-humans? Centaurs, Harpies & Gorgon were referred to as Demi-Humans alongside Orc, Kobolds & goblins - despite "half" body being human (from outer appearance). Meanwhile, Anubians are all human except for Head & dicks - if not including Obsidian Black skin. I'd also go with "Beatkin" &/or "beastmen" over "half-beast" myself - IMO sounds better. Could also have both seperate- # Beastmen- more "beastial"/ animal eg. Heads, hands+claws, legs (talons, paws, hoofs), more body hair etc # Beastkin- more "human" with body features / percentage eg. Ears, tails, eyes, pos claws, & maybe "fur" in small amounts/areas & finer # For Half-Beast- If include still, acts 3rd seperated category (tech for this type Demi), for those with "cut & paste" halves essentially eg. Lamia
