DoL Progress Report

Okay, so first off, I've finished the second Mental Path room for Build 8. As you might guess from the image, I went with a Star Trek Parody room. Sadly and much to my shock, it was actually kinda hard to find images for.  Apparently, there aren't as many perverted artists that prefer Star Trek over Star Wars? Well, I lean toward Star Wars myself, so I suppose maybe that's just the natural home for porn art/game/hentai between the two... Anyway, as such, the images are considerably more inconsistent than I usually allow :-(. It's also not a puzzle room, despite me originally desiring to make it one, as I just couldn't find enough variety of images to pull that off. Even so, what I did make has a fair amount of content, I think.

Now, 'first off' means a second thing, yes? That second thing is explaining what caused the extra day I needed for the previous room. It was actually a technical issue with TWINE that I hadn't fully investigated yet, so I didn't explain it previously. The short version is...I'm apparently approaching the size limits for a single project in TWINE. Sort of. Unknown to me until now, there's actually a hard 5mb cap created by the LocalStorage feature of Chrome (which is where I run TWINE through). I discovered this by actually running out of that storage. However, that was partially due to the fact that I had backups of a couple of previous builds also stored there. After removing those, I was able to continue. However, because of the way I stagger releases for patrons, I have to keep at least two builds on hand and available to work on (in case of bug reports) and the HTML file is approaching 2 MB.

Now, don't be alarmed by that. Even with two builds combined, that leaves me PLENTY of room to work DoL through to completion. So there's no danger of there being that sort of issue. The one thing this MAY effect, though, is the ability to offer the option to continue development of DoL past it's originally planned ending. I'm still looking into just what the options are. Worst case, though, would simply be that I had to wrap up DoL AS PLANNED and any future DoL related work would be done in a new project. There also might simply be a way around the issue I haven't found yet. There apparently iSN'T one in chrome, but there might be in other browsers... It's not something to really worry about...but it did delay me a day figuring out what the heck was going on -_-.
