Also heads up, just wanted to say to recently I haven't been posting the early access to the YouTube versions of these reactions. My bad, I've had 1 or 2 people bring it up to me. I've been getting used to doing the unedits i've been putting those to the side. They take a few days to get processed on YouTube since BBC claims them initially that's why but I'll try to get them all up and have the edited YT versions up since I know not everyone wants to watch a 55 min video. Love ya'll!

Not many people like this episode, This one was written by Chris Chibnal which is the new show runner for Doctor who for the up and coming season. So people are worried. The Story idea was good in concept but was executed poorly. I think Chris is used to writing full series type stories like Broad Church which was a huge hit with its audience. But for his doctor who episodes because he could only write for one or two episodes he couldnt doo all that he wanted in such a short time frame. So hopefully now that he has been given the ability to write for a whole series scope wise he will get out a better set of episodes. Steve Moffat suffered from the opposite who was the previous show runner who directed Doctor who after David Tenant's Doctor regenerates. Moffat writes some amazing stand alone episodes but i think he doesnt do as good a job with the whole series. Russle T Davies who is the showrunner from season 1 to the end of 4 is the best writer. His Era of Doctor who is my favorite.

2018-09-29 04:41:28 +0000 UTCThis episode has more in common with the movie “Sunshine” (released the same year as season 3) and that Futurama episode about the sun creatures
2018-09-27 06:06:07 +0000 UTCIt reminds you of the satan pit episode because they reused the set (and some plot elements) of that episode and didn’t disguise it very well. It was also filmed at the same time as the finale, but is placed pretty oddly in the middle of the season. Leads me to think there was budgetary issues and/or production problems which might account for the choppy editing. This show loves to pull the regeneration fake out almost as often as it brings back the Daleks. But in the next episode, it’s not fake, he regenerates for real!
2018-09-27 06:03:17 +0000 UTCFun fact, the writer of this episode is going to be the current show runner starting this year. I agree this episode was in the “okay” category. The outstanding moment of course being David Tennant’s acting. Also glad you picked up on how similar it was to the far superior 2-parter The Impossible Planet/Satan Pit. The idea of the whole episode being a countdown is a clever idea, but there’s a reason something like that is saved for climaxes. The story moves so fast it’s hard to take things in. Though I have to say the actors did a great job portraying agitation and impatience given their time limit.

2018-09-26 16:25:08 +0000 UTCYour excitement at showing us your t-shirt is too cute. :D I like this episode quite a bit more than the average person. Yes, it's a poor man's Impossible Planet/Satan Pit, but it keeps me entertained overall. The bit with Martha in the escape pod, I genuinely thought might be the end of her and it's very rare to really feel that about a companion. And I like the background stuff going on with Saxon... And this leads into one of the best runs of 6 episodes the show has ever had in my opinion. The rest of this season is top notch stuff.

2018-09-25 20:25:10 +0000 UTCMost of the time The Doctor is never afraid of the opposition, so I really like in this episode seeing the doctor afraid. It makes everything seem bit more tense.
2018-09-25 19:49:52 +0000 UTCI agree that this is only an ok episode. What I do like about it is Martha's reactions in the pod before it goes and as it's being ejected. She is screaming and emotional and I feel like she gets the most visibly upset when it comes to companions in crisis and all that credit goes to the great acting of Freema Agyeman. She really goes for it and l love that.

2018-09-25 18:36:54 +0000 UTCI think your thoughts on this one are pretty similar to how a lot of people feel. I've always felt the middle of this season is a bit flat. However, starting with the next episode, the rest of this season is really good! Hope you enjoy them!
