To add to the context re: Donna's return, you need to sort of know a bit about Catherine Tate who plays her. Tate was literally one of the biggest stars in the UK at the time she landed this role. Fans were horrified that she was even the companion for one episode when she was first announced, because she was only known as a comedian and comedy sketch actress and they thought it might take away from the show a bit. But The Runaway Bride was fairly well received, and Tate had good chemistry with Tennant, thus the fully-fledged companion Donna was born. In her time as companion, she really really proves herself - she brings more comedy than either Rose or Martha ever brought, but she also gets the pathos bang on target. She's regularly voted the most popular companion of all-time, but I really hope you get to feel that for yourself, without our influence. Season 4 is my favourite season of all 36 (including the original run) which is quite an achievement. It just builds and builds beautifully and I really think you're going to love it. Tennant and Tate's chemistry is probably my favourite of any Doctor/Companion combo of all time.

When you mentioned in a review about the Toclafane being from the Doctor's past and how you couldn't handle a Rose cameo, I laughed so hard and couldn't wait for this episode. It was worth the short wait haha

Regarding weight, I've lost about 14 pounds in the last few months, but I've still got the same avatar for my job (on MS Teams). Very annoying. I'm sure my face looks thinner than that now. :D

The grandpa character is also a replacement for Donna's dad, Geoffrey Noble. He was in the christmas special, but the actor playing him died after only filming a few scenes for series 4 so they had to substitute him. They don't mention it much, but its good to keep in mind as there is a very nice moment in the future where he's referenced.

Regarding your "behind the scenes" request around 19:00; originally Donna was going to be only a one off character with instead the planned companion for Series 4 being a new character called Penny. However, it was discovered that Catherine Tate (Donna) was prepared to come back for a full series so she replaced Penny in the scripts already written. Penny was going to be a reporter and elements of that survive in this episode with Donna's investigation of Adipose.

My favorite to an episode of Who that i’ve Seem so far. Can’t wait to see the rest. This season is definitely one of my favorites!!!

The adipose are cute and cheerful. I want one! (Yes, there are plushies of them) I bet Rose is thinking “I’m too late. Ran all this way to be in time for the new season and he already has someone new. 😡🤬😭”. Lol. Your reaction is perfect though, that’s what I was waiting for! I lost track of whether you picked up on this or whether you second guessed yourself but Donna's grandpa is indeed the dude looking for Christmas weirdness who the Doctor ran into on Earth in the previous episode.
