Funnily enough, the Doctor Who universe has always had abstract lifeforms in existence, and this is probably one of those, which is how it's able to survive out there, as it isn't a physical lifeform, but a concept based one; there are basically lifeforms made out of concepts, which makes them immortal, as long as that concept lives on within the consciousness of other living beings. Then there is also a species of lifeforms that specialize on eating Abstract concepts.

skip opening credits of the next episode! BIG SPOILERS IN IT!!!

One of the things visible in this episode is the doctor and his thoughts, usually he thinks highly of humans, being capable of anything being able to do awesome great things, then we have this episode where the humans were the worst thing imaginable and the doctor felt almost betrayed by a species he has spent all of his lives so far protecting and helping

Dan Banks

God damn episodes with things repeating “are you my mummy” “hey who turned out the lights” “sky, can you hear me sky”

Dan Banks

Professor Hobbes is played by David Troughton who is the son of the second Doctor, Patrick Troughton.

Martin Wiggan

The whole intro just dont look

Like the title of the episode? Kk thanks for the heads up will do that

Failwhale34

Dont look at the opening credits next episode btw :)

Definitely a favourite episode of mine.

Jordon

What happens when the Doctor looses control of a situation and doesn’t have his companion to be the human voice. My favourite episode.

Bryter

Season 4 is a gift. I can't wait for the next three eps!!

Emma

P.s. skip the opening credits of the next episode as it contains spoilers

Midnight is one of my favourite episodes of doctor who. I like that you never get to see the being attacking the crew. It's more terrifying because of it. Plays like super low budget horror short film. Closed in quarters to make you feel uneasy. All relied upon the actors abilities to sell the threat and they did it amazingly. One Tenant's best performance, that facial expression he performs when the being has full control always haunts me.

Yes! Definitely!

This is indeed a fan favorite! (: I love this episode to bits. I LOVE the human paranoia in this episode it’s honestly just amazing. The score, the acting, the intensity it’s all fantastic. Felt like a Hitchcock movie. All that paranoia and story and entertainment taking place in one singular room. By the way, next 3 episodes, strap the fuck in dude. Also I’ll say it again don’t look st the intro fro the next episode it has spoilers lol

Alec Campo

I didn't like this episode the first time I saw it, or even several times after that. One of my least favorite things in a TV show is to see characters I love made helpless, another is side characters who are hysterical and unreasonable. This has both, so I found myself very frustrated with the Doctor's situation and annoyed by the side characters. NOW, though, I am better able to appreciate the genius aspects of this episode. The threat we never really see or fully understand, another perspective on how the Doctor can come across to outsiders, more insight on how the Doctor looks without a companion, a study on paranoia and mob mentality. It's a simple idea executed really well. Love it.

It’s far scarier there is no explanation and only guesses as to what it wants or what it’s doing. I’ve looked closely, I can’t see the shadow that the mechanic is talking about

You’d be surprised to learn this episode wasn’t well received at the time, shockingly low ratings for viewership and fans seemed to hate it. I don’t understand why, it’s one of my favorites. Donna on vacation, ironically the one episode where she was sorely needed. Things wouldn’t have gone the same way if she were there. Rose cameo #3! Rose is just a human, she can’t possess people... or electronics... as far as I know she’s just trying to yell for help from another universe

Your reaction was on point and so much fun to watch! Yet another top episode for me. This again proves why Season 4 is one of the best. The lady who plays Mrs. Selvestry is wonderful as well, great acting.

One of my favourites

As someone suggested, don't forget to not watch the opening credits of the next episode as there is a spoiler within (like when the episode title was Evolution of the Daleks and spoiled the entrance of the Daleks in season 3 - I remember you getting a bit pissed by that!!)

Mark Ward

That's the third time I've watched this episode and each time I watch it I like it more. The first time I was a bit like 'huh... what the fuck was that?' but now I'm ok with the lack of explanation. I agree the supporting cast are excellent but I really do think Lesley Sharp's performance as Skye is one of the best guest performances of all time in Who - it's absolutely outstanding. Her physicality and sense of menace is amazing. I don't think it's particularly overlooked by the fans - a quick check on IMDB sees it rated 25th of New Who with an average score of 9, and on the Doctor Who dynamic rankings it is rated 9th of New Who. Having said all that, I actually like the next episode more... and in fact, I love all the last 6 episodes of this season. Just brilliant.

Mark Ward

I LOVE this episode, and I think the acting and the music are fabulous. I especially love that music at the end as he asks if anyone knows the hostess' name. I also love its a basically one set episode and even tho Donna is hardly in it you dont miss her because its SO WELL WRITTEN. I think this may be a little overlooked tho by a lot of people? Nice reaction vid as always!

thank you fam! looking forward to the rest of it

I hate most of the other passengers. What's scary is they were nice ordinary people at first.
