And another to add on to is that the first time his mom found out he was a vampire, she first though he was crazy, and then once she saw him feeding on a rat she called on Simon. And now this time he hurt his sister in accident so no matter the outcome his mom wouldn’t accept him. So he did what was best and I’m pretty sure that Simons sister still knows he’s alive. Also Magnus saves the crew once again, selflessly. Giving up a HUGE part of him that he’s had with him for almost 500 years. And to answer your question about Alec, we saw Jace put a healing rune on Alec before he goes to clary once Magnus says he doesn’t have magic anymore so Alec is healing, just probably much more slowly and painfully than he would be had Magnus had his magic. Wow. This was too long ok

But this episode is one of my favorites...some more back story with Magnus, introducing Asmodeous (played by the wonderful Jack Yang) and Lilith going back to Edom. And only 3 more weeks to wait!!

As for Simon, yeah, he could have encantoed his mom again, but that already happened at least once and he keeps getting found out and things keep falling apart, and this time it put his mom and sister in danger, so I can sort of see the rationale for him deciding she'd be safer if she just believed he was dead? So...yeah. That scene really gets me every time, in large part because Alberto Rosende is just so incredibly brilliant in it.
