Yoki's flashback in the mining town was actually shown as an episode in the 2003 series where Ed helped the residents in Youswell and tricked Yoki. These events also happen in the manga. The 2003 series had a few differences though since it tells its own anime original story.

2019-02-24 00:00:48 +0000 UTCSeems like the Yoki flashback went over your head a bit. So: Yoki's narration is, on the off chance that you didn't understand, full of shit. Your main indication of this is that the actual stuff happening onscreen blatantly contradicts half of what he says. He was basically the cruel overlord of some mining town sometime before the start of the series, before Ed (the real one, not a homunculus) came into town, witnessed his corruption, and came up with a scheme to trick him into relinquishing ownership in exchange for fake gold, leading to zero profit for Yoki and freedom for the oppressed miners. So, don't feel too bad for him there. Then, after his failed attempts at recovering his losses via casinos, the part where he claims to have "sought help from a wealthy family" was him sinking to breaking into rich people's houses for burglary. Unfortunately, the first family he tried robbing turned out to be the Armstrong family. The tiny girl who throws a piano at him is the younger sister of the two Armstrongs we know. All this is probably easier to follow if you read the manga, where you actually see Ed's adventure in the mining town early in the series and meet the Armstrong family earlier as well. None of it's really spoilers since they're never going to clarify it any further than what they've already shown in the anime.
