My suggestions - preferably to be reacted to before too long (during series 7)...for reasons : Spearhead from Space; Terror of the Zygons; The TV Movie

2019-03-29 11:26:13 +0000 UTCIn my personal experience, I watched the classic series after a finished new who. And after getting used to the old style, I started to really appreciate it and have a lot of fun. That said, I don't think classic who is reaction material, but I wouldn't complain if you react to it every once in a while.

2019-03-27 15:52:32 +0000 UTCFrom my limited knowledge of Classic, not a bad list. I'd also add for consideration War Games, any 3rd era Master story, Deadly Assassin, the anniversary specials, and the movie.

2019-03-27 02:15:27 +0000 UTCPersonally I still think you’d get a bit more watching classic who if you did something like watch one story from each doctor... to get a feel for the changing pace of the show... potentially The Aztecs, The Tomb of the Cybermen, Inferno, Genesis of the Daleks, The Caves of Androzani, Vengeance On Varos and Remembrance of the Daleks. Though I’m sure others would give different suggestions.

2019-03-26 23:44:11 +0000 UTCI love the Dirk Gently books - the BBC did a great radio version of those books with Harry Enfield and Olivia Coleman. Shame the TV series, especially the new Netflix one, decided to ignore the books and make it up as they go along.

2019-03-26 21:09:56 +0000 UTCThis was written by Douglas Adams, creator of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (under a pseudonym). He actually recycled significant elements of the story for the book Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (which also incorporated elements of Shada, another of his Doctor Who stories that ended up unfinished due to a strike). A good book, by the way!

2019-03-26 20:58:06 +0000 UTCHope you’re enjoying classic who, it can be a bit difficult to adjust sometimes but if you stick with it you’ll come to love it. If you’re looking for recommendations I’d watch spearhead from space, the third doctors first story, and often cited as the best post regeneration story

2019-03-26 20:52:50 +0000 UTCDid you miss the fact John Cleese was in the gallery towards the end? He is the famous comedian from Monty Python. Maybe you haven't watched those films :-) Also, the villain, Julian Glover was also in Star Wars, Indiana Jones and James Bond.

2019-03-26 20:47:43 +0000 UTCIt's very important to be able to talk bullshit about art when visiting an art gallery. :D

2019-03-26 20:42:38 +0000 UTCTotally agree with you, I could see this being in an episode of new who and working really well 😎

2019-03-26 19:20:00 +0000 UTCIf this 4-part serial were compressed into a 60 minute episode and the special effects brought up to speed, I think it would blend in easily with new Who. I had a crush on Romana (Lalla Ward) back in 1979. This was fun. Is it canon, you ask, that the Jagaroth explosion started life on earth? I don’t take too much of what happens on Dr. Who, classic or new, as canon because I’m afraid the timey-wimey pieces aren’t going to fit – unless you’re a Time Lord.
