Why is there so much Doctor Who hate in these comments! All of these episodes are awesome! It really disappoints me to see all this pessimism.

This is why I hate Clara. The self-importance and arrogance. I truly thought that the Doctor was right, he has no right to decide the future of the human race. She acts like a spoiled child having a tantrum.

This is the worst episode?... Really?... Surely the worst episode of season 8 will be here in a couple of weeks time.

This episode was at it's best when the spiders were creepy scary villains. Making our moon an egg was a bit much. Would have been better if this took place on an alien world. It looks like they are setting up Clara's departure. Now that you've seen the worst episode of season 8 get ready... Capaldi's best has yet to come.

Pretty much everyone has mirrored my thoughts: starts off well;gets quite scary; begins to get silly; develops it's silly quotient; becomes really quite absurdly silly indeed; throws in an element of offensiveness at the very end, just for good measure. I began rewatching series 8 a few months ago,and was enjoying it - then I reached this one,and hit the buffers.

Ian Smith

Does anyone know if the guy she supposedly married has any relation with the formulator of the Blinovitch Limitation Effect theory, Aaron Blinovitch? I mean, from what I've read, technically I suppose it could be Blinovitch himself, considering he's a member of the Faction Paradox, so he would obviously have the means to make it happen, despite being born in the 19th century or so

most eggs in the world are spherical :)

Would chicken/any egg formed in space be perfect spheres?!

Another thing, I also HATE how Clara is right in this story. Yea, it was unfair of the Doctor to leave her and the other two to figure it out, but Clara put this unknown creature first above the entire human race despite having almost nothing to go off of. She gambled everything, set up a (extremely flawed) vote and then ignored the outcome just because she didn't like it. Hell, millions of people were already dead or dying already but nope, alien monster baby comes first. Eggshell? It's clearly not normal eggshell like you'd see on chicken eggs so it's ridculous to assume they won't hurt the Earth...but that gamble of course pays off because, well Clara has to be right, because you 'can't' have a companion that killed an innocent creature, and you also can't have her just kill the entire human race. Sorry. God this episode is so dumb.

This was a script that needed another pass or two of editing. There's a good story at its core, but it feels half-finished. Stuff like voting by turning your lights off and on - what, does the other side of the planet not count? - and all the obvious conservation of mass problems feel like First Draft Fodder, the kind of patchwork you throw into a first draft just to get the story finished, intending to go back and fix them up later...and then in this case, they just never got ironed out.

Mixed episode for me, I like it more than I used to but it's a very generic Who setup that we've all seen before leading to the Clara bit at the end. It really does feel like they didn't know what to do with her once the impossible girl storyline 's over and Matt had left so they didn't have the flirty relationship to fall back on.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on the episode too

Hate to barge but your almost done where’s that FMAB at? Said Thursday 😅😢

Personally one of my least favourite episodes of the entire show. People hate on Fear Her and Love and Monsters but this is worse for me as is a future episode that i won't name. Only saving grace of this one for me is when Clara has a go at The Doctor.

Quick thoughts, I hate the moon being an egg...containing an egg, fine...BEING an egg....dumb. The creature laying another moon the exact size, shape and weight as the previous one, within seconds of being born (and the laying happening instantly) is one of the stupidest moments of Doctor who (and that's saying a lot). The ending really destroys (for me) what was being set up as a strange and scary mystery and the whole 'abortion' theme is really too on the nose, but I could have accepted it if the resolution to the plot had a modicum of sense. However the acting is still as strong as ever, there's some great lines in the episode and the ending with Clara and the Doctor is powerful and I love how the Doctor doesn't 'see' why he has fucked up and doesn't really know how to act with Clara throwing her emotions at him.

I think this is a great story.

[eagerly finds S08E07 title... disappointment] Oh... that one... :-(
