This is a really excellent breakdown of Twelve and Clara's relationship https://youtu.be/iFnPjd3B0t8

There was nothing wrong with the sonic sunglasses. I absolutely loved them! 😁❤

Amy Chlebus

Ah, so is this the Doctor's 3rd time as the Lord President, then?

Skebaba

@Dani C You are so right. A Christmas bonus. 😁

DinoX7

2 Christmas specials before S10 and both are 'special'

Dani C

It's the characters and the dialogue that's the heart of this show. An added bonus to the Sci Fi elements. Lesser shows are not able to achieve that. This is why the series endures. The Doctor forgetting Clara means forgetting all those times each incarnation was helped by the impossible girl. His Doctor will never remember. He got the Donna treatment. I didn't think about it until you said it. My favorite moment was when he finally got his new sonic. Well Clara's off on her own adventures until she reaches Gallifrey. For me Clara will always be the 12th Doctor's companion. The Christmas special is... "special". It is above average is all I'll say. Oh and season 10 is coming with some very good episodes. Somewhat ambitious stories.

DinoX7

I second this.

Just a different actor 👍🏼

Wow. I agree with you that series 9 is the best series of Doctor Who so far! I am really glad you also enjoyed this episode:) and I loved your reaction. Quite a few people I know are annoyed that Clara was brought back but I thought it was perfect the way they acknowledged that and gave a great ending to Clara's story. My favourite lines in Doctor Who is in this episode: "Do you travel? From time to time." I absolutely love the all dialogue in the diner in this episode. I have actually eaten in the exact diner that was in 6x1 and this episode and the owner is a Doctor Who fan so they actually put a Tardis door in the back. I'm glad you enjoyed series 9, now on to series 10! P.s It's important to note that in 2016 Doctor Who had a year off so you have 2 Christmas specials to watch before getting to series 10, have fun:)

This reaction made my day, so glad you love this episode and season as much as I do!!! I don‘t think anything can top season 9 and Clara x Twelve for me tbh. I‘ve rewatched this season so many times and it always feels like the first time, it‘s honestly perfect to me, I love it so much. Man I could write a whole novel about it hahaha but I‘m just glad you enjoyed it as well!!

A great look with the line "I had a duty of care" No one says I love you without actually saying it better than The Doctor. (And I mean friendship love rather than romantic)

Daryl

Don’t know if you realised or not, but Rassilon (the President) was the same character as the one in ‘The End of Time’

chil£an

This was my worst rated season for me, like bottom 2 and had been for years, but after re watching in order with ur POV on it, I honestly appreciated it so much more.

Matthew Case

If Moffat said that, then he really shouldn't be killing the companions in the first place and using their death as a shock factor.

I would totally watch The Adventures of Clara and Me.

Patrick McMahon

Been waiting for you to get to Peter Capaldi's rendition of Clara's theme for ages, Faily! All those times you've blissed out over it. 😂

Mr K

Love the reaction and the episode. Series 9 is one of the best. Capaldi is amazing.

Stephen

Enjoyed the two episodes, though it's a shame there wasn't more from Gallifrey. Absolutely loved the classic TARDIS console room and console and the "bare" cylindrical TARDIS. I read our watched an interview with Steven Moffat where he said he didn't think younger viewers should see Doctor companions die, can't find it online though, sadly.

Mr K

I must be in the minority, but I find this more watchable than Hell Bent. Sure,I have many issues with it (especially the Clara aspect); but it's well structured, and is an episode of creative and surprising moments.

Ian Smith

Love this episode, clever, brilliant send off for Clara, I don't get people who wanted her to die in a lane horribly.

Cooper Vision

Hey Halim- added another link right now. Should be good in an hour - 2.

Failwhale34

Hey Siti! Thanks for the heads up, just got a second link posted. Give it the usual hour - 2 for it to process if there are still issues i'll get another one up. And ya, that cloisters scene was a hard one :(

Failwhale34

I love this story. I think it was beautiful. I know people get mad at the apparent get out clause being applied to Clara or the undermining of her death scene - but it is such a good narrative. It completely works for me.

Dani C

I thought this was a lovely season finale. Clara and Me… time and space… you watch them run!

Tumbili

I'm not the biggest fan of this episode. I can see why people would like this happier ending for Clara, but I dunno, I think it's good to have a companion just die - it really would have showed how dangerous over-confidence is on these adventures. Also, this episode really depowered Rassilon, he is half the reason the Time Lords exist in the first place, and he was so powerful at one point, him being resurrected just to be shoved off the planet like a feeble old man wasn't my thing. I think Moffat really wanted to show Rassilon as a throwback warmonger who'd lost his grasp on power, which is fair enough, but we're fast running out of villains that are any real threat to the Doctor.

Laura_Ali

You didn't get any less gallifrey because Clara was there. did you think there'd be a whole series with the adventures of the doctor on gallifrey?

Amelia Liggins

the opinion in the community is really split about this episode. the haters of it are louder though. personally i really liked it.

Amelia Liggins

Link doesn’t work x

Halim Tyreece

Great reaction, season 9 is goat for me

A fantastic end to a fantastic season. Hell Bent is, in my opinion, one of if not the best (and certainly the best up to this point) season finale of the modern series. There are some people who really dislike it but as far as I’m concerned, shoving Gallifrey out of the way immediately to refocus on a personal story is absolutely the right move, and I love the rebuke of Donna’s fate.

Only way I can enjoy that dumb ending for Clara is the Time Lords caught up to her immediantly, sent her back to the Raven and as for Ashildr, she got sent into the sun. After all, she's a hybrid, best not take any chances. I have softened to this episode a bit more since it aired, but I still damn well hate Gallifrey getting shafted for a character who's story was already finished and bringing her back from the dead, making her 'immortal' and giving her a TARDIS and companion is a step to far in stupidity for me.

Hey michael! there's something wrong with the first link and it can't be played, just a head's up. Anyway, that being said i haven't seen your reaction to this yet, but i gotta say this episode was truly underrated and I still don't understand why it gets so much hate. I think Clara's send off was much deserved and in my opinion.. really satisfying for me, and makes alot of sense in a way. The scene in the cloisters where clara talked to the doctor being trapped in the confession dial was the most heartbreaking :'( and then came the scene where the doctor slowly getting his memories about Clara being wiped :'( Takes me back when Donna getting hers wiped :'(

Siti Dee

The first time I saw it live and still to this day, my head canon is that Clara and Ashildr fell in love along the way<3 Loved this ending for her.

Lilly M.

By the way, the Doctor didn't see the image of Clara at the end. This two parter is my favorite two partner. Majority of Who community hated this two parter because they thought it messed up Clara's closing, and her bravery of facing the raven, but I loved it. It showed how far the Doctor would go to save a companion who's he grown so attached to. Ugh, I loved this so much, but I'm so sad that the Doctor forgot Clara. Just the thought of that, and Clara having to know that the Doctor won't remember her I know breaks her heart. Especially, the whole "if I saw her I'd absolutely know" and she wiped her nose to keep from looking sad. Ugh, broke my heart. Loved your reaction btw, I'm so sad that you're catching up to all of us though, because I like being ahead of you haha!

Couldnt agree more

DeathSwitch

All the hype for Gallifrey...only to remind us that this was all about Clara.

I'm in the minority here, I know – but Hell Bent and Heaven Sent (together) are personally my two favourite episodes and what I consider the best finale. I think it's a brilliant follow-up to the previous episode and it really ties together and gives a satisfying ending to all the themes of Series 9 and the Doctor's relationship with Clara. It just feels right.

:'( what'd you think of this one
