2019-12-05 02:41:04 +0000 UTCI figured I'd turn it up to 11.

2019-12-05 02:38:25 +0000 UTCStill Genesis of The Cybermen would have been a good episode title.

2019-12-05 02:35:03 +0000 UTCI have been looking forward to see your reaction to this episode for a while now and it certainly didn't disappoint! This episode is magnificent. Unfortunately, John Simm as The Master was in the trailer for the series and in the next time trailers so I knew he was going to be in it. I couldn't imagine what seeing him return for real would be like. This is great and I can't wait to see your reaction to the next one:)

2019-12-04 20:23:14 +0000 UTCI'll always be thankful that I didn't hear about him returning before this episode aired! Bill's my 2nd favorite companion, so it broke my heart to see her as a Cyberman, but it absolutely blew my mind when I realized this is how Cybermen were created in the first place. I thought it was a brilliant way to create a backstory for them and made me just feel even worse for Cybermen in general. Might just be recency bias, but this Cybermen/Bill & Missy/Master storyline is my favorite.

2019-12-04 15:11:27 +0000 UTCAbsolutely love!

2019-12-04 03:44:18 +0000 UTCFyi, Mondas was the original planet of the Cybermen.
2019-12-04 03:33:49 +0000 UTCI don't follow BBC because of the spoilers. I just watched it when it came on and got to be absurdly surprised when the master showed up. I avoid spoilers and trailers at all costs.

2019-12-03 23:49:10 +0000 UTCAfter some filler, these finale episodes were a great send off to everyone in the show. Epic music from Murray Gold as usual, great writing from Stephen, great performances, beautiful.

2019-12-03 22:33:57 +0000 UTCIt's tough. They need to advertise to get the viewing figures, but it totally destroys anything like this.
Mr K
2019-12-03 20:30:37 +0000 UTCThe bbc announce EVERYTHING. They completely spoilt every reveal

2019-12-03 20:19:54 +0000 UTCGenesis of the Daleks, not the cybermen. We first saw the cybermen in the 1st doctors final episode and they were mondasian cybermen but we didn’t know there back story but this is it. Mondas is the original planet of the cybermen but it is a twin planet of earth. They became technologically advanced and there planet was destroyed.

2019-12-03 20:19:00 +0000 UTCLike a few have already said this would of been better if his return had not been spoilt in the press. About 30 seconds after he came on screen I saw and heard right through the disguise. I can't be sure if it would of fooled me without prior knowledge, maybe, maybe not. But I wasn't prepared for what happened to Bill. 😥 It's interesting how reactions change the further channels get through the series in that I think the viewer does begin to expect something awful to happen to the companions. Mirror the mere mention of Rose's death in Army of Ghosts against a massive hole being blasted in Bill in World Enough and Time.

2019-12-03 17:35:21 +0000 UTCNow you get to see how good John Simm is when he doesn't have as campy of writing... Ironically because classic cybermen are pretty camp

2019-12-03 17:22:42 +0000 UTCI wrote in another comment about how Moffat was much better than others at writing stories that directly referenced the Classic series - and this is a golden example! It might perhaps have helped if you'd seen the Classic story (The Tenth Planet) that this episode directly references;but, due to Moffat's writing ability,it never becomes confusing. In addition, his use of a Black Hole to prolong time was inspired. I have a friend who's never been much of an admirer of New Who (he's a Classic series fan through-and-through);but,after seeing this episode,he admitted that he'd just watched a masterpiece!

2019-12-03 13:50:04 +0000 UTCYeah, I can't wait. I'm gonna have to watch the next two ahead of you. 😂
Mr K
2019-12-03 13:12:26 +0000 UTCThis is my favourite two-part finale of any series of new Who. It's just so good!
Stephen Ray
2019-12-03 12:23:08 +0000 UTCYou’re thinking of genesis of the Daleks
I have no name
2019-12-03 12:07:28 +0000 UTCThe BBC were idiots and included John Simm in the trailers for Series 10
I have no name
2019-12-03 12:06:34 +0000 UTCOne of the best episodes of the season
Alex James
2019-12-03 11:58:54 +0000 UTCThis is my favourite finale ever. Of all eleven seasons so far, this is the best of them for me. So, so, epic. Your face at the reveal was a picture!

2019-12-03 08:38:51 +0000 UTCI figured out who he was about 5 minutes before the reveal, thanks mum for dropping cryptic hints! I'll look forward to watching this later m

2019-12-03 08:18:02 +0000 UTCI love the original Cyberman design. You really see the horror of what they are, instead of just seeing shiny robots. Just looking at the head bags and thinking how messed up they must be under there... You're lucky going into this unspoiled, we knew here in the UK that John Simms was coming back. Even so, it caught a few people off guard. Great make up and acting there. On to the next! Can't wait. 🙂
Mr K
2019-12-03 08:05:41 +0000 UTC"are you human?" "Now don't be a bitch."

2019-12-03 07:43:06 +0000 UTCThere wasn't a classic episode called genesis of the cybermen. This was the first time ever we've seen the origin story of them. There was a classic Tom baker story called Genesis off the daleks with their origin story, this was a reference to that. I love this episode so creepy and the whole medical vibe is exactly what I would have wanted for a cyberman origin. Peter was asked what his favourite who villain was and he said mondasian cybermen (in the first ever cyberman story with 1, they came from earth's twin planet Mondas) so they gave him this...
Amelia Liggins
2019-12-03 07:42:14 +0000 UTCLove this one. I'm vicariously watching your reaction, because the spoilers for this one were everywhere at the time. I didn't know when or where, but I knew Simms was coming back. I had to wait for the Amazon release to watch while so many others I knew watched when it aired. So your face is priceless at the reveal. :)
2019-12-03 06:20:15 +0000 UTCIt's a great episode for sure. This, the next, and the upcoming christmas special are all brilliant. So, there isn't actually a classic story called the Genesis of the Cybermen; the closest is the very first Cyberman story (in which they were from, you guessed it, Mondas) which is called The Tenth Planet. However, in an interview, Capaldi was asked what sort of story he'd really love to do, and he answered that he'd love to go back to the origins of the Cybermen, and do a Genesis of the Cybermen (playing off of the title of the classic story Genesis of the Daleks). So this is one that's really going out to him.
2019-12-03 06:10:20 +0000 UTC4am release lol watching now, it's a great episode

2019-12-03 06:00:29 +0000 UTCI love this two parter so much. Top 5 of the show for me. The acting directing, writing and score are all on point. Rachel Talalay actually directed the finales for Season 8, 9 and 10 and she knocks it out the park.
