Rly? I'm the opposite; I think the only good member of the "new" staff is the new composer, since he's pretty good, even if we use Murray Gold as the standard.

I didn't want to see Capaldi go, but the "new" Who isn't all that new anymore, and it is time to update it. Change is always hard on people. It was especially hard, and the rage and hatred online was unavoidable, because of the casting of Jodie, in the early days. I think she's amazing as the Doctor, and I could see her pulling other new Who Doctors into this episode, making it believable that she's trying to settle into her new identity. I'm not the biggest Chibnall fan, but I don't absolutely hate him, either. I'm more interested in seeing how he runs the show than watching his stories. For the record, I think he's really good at realism, but fantasy might not be his forte, and I'm not sure showing glimpses of the darkness we've seen in The Doctor before is his forte either. That's something that keeps me coming back to new Who. I watched the trailer for the new series, though, and I'm hyped. I can't wait. The second one usually cements my love of the new cast.

I haven't liked the stories Chibnall wrote in earlier seasons, and I'm sorry to say that this whole season was no different for me. I know lots will disagree with me, but season 11 just didn't click for me. I hope it does for you at some point and perhaps hearing your take on it will help me to see Thirteen in a different light. The first two stories were tolerable, one of the later stories is abysmal (I'll just say 'frog' - you will understand in due course) but the rest of the season was just a real drag for me. It's the first time since Who returned in 2005 that I have not been excited to see a new episode. I actually stopped watching for a few weeks and went back to it, finishing the season about two months after it originally aired.

I think by the time you get finished with this season, season 12 will be half way through broadcasting. You're still not quite caught up yet! The music makes more difference than I think most people expected it to. Murray Gold was so good, and we all took him for granted. Literally everything about this season is different and it takes some getting used to. I hated this episode on first watch, but then rewatched it the next day and liked it a lot more.

A while back you mentioned having a story about meeting one of the doctors or a doctor story from comic con or something but you would talk about it later. I dunno if i missed the video you told it in or if you had just forgotten? Been wondering what that was about for a while

I hope by the end of Jodies run I will be sad to see her go too but I feel like thats unlikely to happen. Rumor is season 12 is the end for both her and Chibnall.

You're right about Tennant's first series. It's still my least favourite, but they eventually got there. I thought this was a better introduction than 10 or 12 got.

I rather liked this opener. Pretty decent and enjoyable. Great visuals and a good introduction for 13. The cast also showed really good potential too when they worked with her. Shame about Grace though. I really liked her. The villain wasn't too memorable but I do like that it was a serious threat. No way could you even think that was Alphonse for a second. Alphonse is too pure to do that! :P I'm still trying to get used to this new era but I like the music so far at this stage. It feels different which is expected but also refreshing so far.

I miss the old music as much as the next person, BUT THE NEW MUSIC IS ALSO SO GOOD THO?? One of the things that stood out to me(at least after the second episode), was that I really really liked the music. Also that first DW shirt you got AGES ago was that 13 inspired rainbow shirt! I agree that the episode and villain itself is nothing special, BUT I really loved The Doctor and I grew to love the rest of the cast pretty fast. This season DOES feel pretty different, and it makes me a little sad that so many are just so negative about it. I appreciate people who may not have loved it, but staying positive anyways :) (and you know, i can't hide the fact that it DOES mean a lot to me just on principal, so..)

It is a big change to what we have seen before - it focuses very much on visuals and small story telling as opposed to having a big overall arc and reveal - very enjoyable though - some really good stories get told this season.

Love Jodie. Not a fan of the music either. Good introduction episod e, I thought. They tried some different things with this series. Most of it worked. Miss Murray Gold though.

I agree, it takes some time to get used to and when I rewatched this season I liked it a lot more, there are some real good episodes here. It's just a big change, but that is what is great about this show it can become so many things. It's this now and this will some people's favorite era and it will change again, breaking hearts like always lol.

Good start, a lot of potential and a good cast. First season always takes time to find its feet with most series. Looks absolutely gorgeous, they were mindful of having to compete with the flashy new series like Star Trek, Mandalorian and the like coming from all of the streaming series on a much smaller budget. Fairly forgettable villain, but then it's really all about setting up the new Doctor and crew. I've had the benefit of time and quite a few re-watches to get used to this series. Will be interesting to see your reactions. 🙂

I feel like it probably took most of this series at least to get used to the style, but upon rewatching this episode now I much prefer it than originally, it still has the problem of the small scale villain who wasn’t the best but other than that I enjoy it. I feel like as soon as you start to absolutely love a character in doctor who they aren’t far away from being bopped so most of the time it is getting to know and getting used to them which is what this is the start of
