WHAT'D YOU THINK OF THIS ONE?! :'(
Comments
Omg I just saw the full meaning behind when bill tells the doctor “I don’t want to live if I can’t be me, do you understand? “ and I didn’t think about it but he really does understand because that’s why he won’t regenerate!! EUREKA!
2019-12-22 08:55:50 +0000 UTCThis was my favourite two-parter. Everyone got to make their final stand, and Missy, Bill, and Nardole got great send-offs.

2019-12-08 21:15:23 +0000 UTCIf we get another 50 years of Doctor Who, then I imagine they probably will at some point. 😉

2019-12-08 19:57:56 +0000 UTCI've only noticed a few weeks ago that he said this, too. 🙂

2019-12-08 19:56:41 +0000 UTCYou had me crying watching this bro 😂 great reaction, such a rollercoaster of an episode this. Capaldi is my all time favourite doctor. When will the Christmas special reaction be out mate, can’t wait to see it

2019-12-08 19:11:07 +0000 UTCYou got the “I don’t wanna go” 10 reference, but when Capaldi said “when the doctor was me” I don’t think you realised that was 11 reference

2019-12-08 18:32:56 +0000 UTCIf they're smart they'll never retcon the Master's death as Missy. They can always just place any new Masters they want to bring in to the show between the John Simm Master and Missy, and she already said she's been "up and down his timeline" anyways.

2019-12-08 18:13:53 +0000 UTCGreat episode, I’ve got to recommend watching the 1st doctors final story The Tenth Planet.

2019-12-08 15:49:33 +0000 UTCI think I enjoyed the first part a lot more than the second part, but stand outs are Missy finally becoming good, without hope, without witness, and without reward, quite literally. Apparently, like the Doctor, Moffat doesn't like endings. He saved Clara in her last heartbeat, and now Bill has been "reincarnated" with a love to travel the world with. In some ways, it feels like a cop-out to keep the tragedy from being overwhelming, but I think he genuinely wants happy ever after.
2019-12-08 14:57:17 +0000 UTCI always think that when Missy grabbed the Doctor's hand when she said 'thanks for trying,' the Doctor felt the blade. He knew what she was going to do, and that's why he didn't say anything else.

2019-12-08 13:09:55 +0000 UTCThis is deadass my favourite finale ever. Capaldi's performance is off the scale, and the music is unreal. Murray Gold's finest (and final) work.

2019-12-08 13:08:32 +0000 UTCCapaldi's last hurrah. Well next to last. I think Bill believes the Doctor had died. Which is why she left him in the Tardis. It's not clear whether the Doctor would have regenerated without a tear from Bill. It's been a wonderful ride. For the first time in series history there are two Masters facing the Doctor. John Simms and Michelle Gomez make a good team. My wish has been granted. David Bradley as the first Doctor! I always wanted him to appear in an episode. Now if only they would allow Paul McGann to appear. O.K. now that we've established that traveling with the Doctor can be dangerous can we please stop killing companions! One last adventure for the 12th Doctor.

2019-12-08 12:28:21 +0000 UTCOnce again,I thought your summing up got it spot on. There are parts of this story that really work - other parts leave me cold. For me,the best part (other than the final few scenes) was having John Simm finally play The Master - as opposed to RTD's manic kidult version. His cold and heartless response to 12's emotional speech was absolutely pitch perfect. And that cliffhanger...!

2019-12-08 11:50:59 +0000 UTCCapaldi is such a good actor and i thought this episode was one of his best. So much emotion, drama and sadness over a short space of time. Thought the ending for Bill was fitting and it also brought a tear to my eye. The next episode also has a few teary moments so be ready :)
2019-12-08 11:35:57 +0000 UTCSomething wonderfully cathartic about crying alongside you on a Sunday morning. I'd always considered Donna's exit to be the harshest, but as this unfolded I unexpectedly realised exactly how much I actually truly loved Bill. 😥
Daryl
2019-12-08 11:06:28 +0000 UTCI feel like after The Doctor gave that speech to The Master and Missy, when he grabbed Missy's arm he felt the blade and therefore knew what she was going to do, hence the prolonged shot.

2019-12-08 10:39:46 +0000 UTCWow... this is one of the most magnificent episodes of DW. I loved your reaction, absolutely incredible. The line "If I can't be human again then I don't want to live anymore" really got me this time round for some reason. You just have the Christmas special then you are on to series 11! I am interested to see your reaction to that. After that you have literally caught up, insane! Series 12 airs on new years day in the UK. If you can't get it then, I could try and download it and send it too you if you want:)

2019-12-08 10:38:41 +0000 UTCThis regeneration is also referenced earlier in the episode, when the Master and Missy are circling the Doctor and asking about all the ways he’s died. Missy says ‘I know you’ve fallen’, which is how the fourth Doctor died; this is the only one of the Doctor’s regenerations that the Master was present for. And when the Doctor bursts back to life, the first thing he cries out is a nonsensical ‘Sontarans perverting the course of human history!’ Which is also the first thing the Fourth Doctor shouted upon awaking post-regeneration. It made as little sense in that context as it does here.
2019-12-08 10:20:02 +0000 UTCSome nods to classic who that you might have missed: the sequence when the Doctor is lying on the ground, ‘dead’, and then is awoken by a series of visions of his friends calling out to him, is a reference to the fourth Doctor’s regeneration, where something very similar happens as he lays on the ground: https://youtu.be/l3w-BHsXt4I
2019-12-08 10:14:03 +0000 UTCOh man I sat here crying with you Michael!

2019-12-08 10:08:14 +0000 UTCI will miss him so much. Capaldi is such an amazing actor. The feelings he show are so true and heartbroken. One of the greatest actors I've ever seen and a wonderful person. 12 is my doctor and i can't wait to the your reaction to be next episode.

2019-12-08 09:22:51 +0000 UTCThis episode broke me when it came out..my first doctor was 10 and I love (almost) every Tennant episode..I grew to be a true whovian with 11, with his long hair his bow tie and his attitude (being silly and also serious when needed)..but 12 is my doctor..and to see him leave the show, to know that this is his last season...something about that really just choked me up when I was watching this season...I absorbed every episode In this season and looked for all the Easter eggs I could though out the entire season..but this episode..this episode broke me.. his speech was as good as if not better than his anti war speech in the previous season..and I think this and heaven sent are the best episodes of his run..but to see 12 not wanting to regenerate, because he’s just gone through too much and just wants to die, to finally rest.. it breaks you’re heart. And I know this isn’t his final episode but, they do it in such a way that it’s almost like a soft ending for his character and that itself is just heart wrenching but also beautiful in the way they chose to have him “going out”..if there’s one thing I learned from 12...is to be kind..thank you Peter for the wonderful portrayal.. can’t wait for you’re reaction to the next episode, Peter is fantastic..thank you for reading my gushing lol

2019-12-08 06:39:53 +0000 UTCGreat finale. Loved seeing your reaction to it. I love all the emotions behind this episode particularly with The Doctor and Bill. I felt so bad for Bill throughout this episode. One of my favourite scenes is The Doctor pleading to both Masters and that last scene between The Doctor, Nardole and Bill. Lots of feels and emotions all around I think both Masters shooting each other in the back is quite fitting for them. I can understand the conflict between Bill's ending but ultimately I'm happy that she gets a happy closure. The flashbacks to the past companions is also great. Love that you got emotional to this.

2019-12-08 06:35:41 +0000 UTCI absolutely love this episode hands down! 4 was my 1st doctor, but 12 is a very close 2nd for me. I love everything Peter Capaldi is in. ❤❤

2019-12-08 06:20:15 +0000 UTCI cried almost as much as you did. Okay, possibly more. Great reaction. One of my favorite episodes. And one of the best speeches in Who. Summed up the Doctor perfectly.

2019-12-08 05:55:24 +0000 UTCOne thing you might have been confused about just judging from your reaction and stuff you mentioned (maybe not?) is why Bill left The Doctor. Bill thinks The Doctor is dead. Like dead dead. She doesn't know much about regeneration and he intended to die fully in the blast. So she thinks he's dead dead. Hence why she brings him back to the TARDIS in her words "to rest in peace" and leaves him. I love Bill's ending. Its a really solid and complete story arc from beginning to end with a lot of thematic beats through it. It comes out of left field at first but if you rewatch the whole season which I've done in this reaction, all the set up is there for it. Her story is basically that Bill and The Doctor have a student/teacher relationship. He's teaching her the ways of the universe. And as established in this episode, The Doctor doesn't wanna regenerate anymore, in his mind this is his last regeneration, he doesn't wanna change, when he dies, he dies. So in his mind, he knows that this is the end. When he's done, he's done, so I truly believe he was setting Bill up and teaching her in order to inherit the TARDIS and continue his work when he dies. So her ending is really fitting IMO. Because she ends up as this otherworldly, non-human, with her own companion, exploring the universe, as a pilot. This episode is her "graduation day" to become someone like The Doctor. Its kind of a rehash of the Clara ending when you think about it.

2019-12-08 05:52:07 +0000 UTCDid you catch that during the battle scene with the cybermen, it was the theme from the end of Heaven Sent

2019-12-08 05:40:51 +0000 UTCMy twelve. :`( The saddest part for me was when Bill the Cyberman was crying over his body!

2019-12-08 05:27:53 +0000 UTCThis ep is all about the emotional relationships between the characters & I love it! Missy’s end is tragic and heartbreaking. I’m so glad Bill got a happy ending! And Capaldi... I just love 12. I tear up every time I watch this ep. all the humans and cybermen are just window dressing surrounding the good stuff! Plus, John Simm is marvelous as a contrast to Missy’s conflicted character.

2019-12-08 05:22:01 +0000 UTCI know people find Heather/ThePilot coming back a little too deux-ex-machina, but I don't know, I like the happy ending of it. Also, I think it's fitting that both of the darker 12th Doctor's companions basically died/transformed/ran-off-to-see-the-universe.

2019-12-08 04:32:10 +0000 UTCI was so shooketh when missy got shot. And when I saw the 1St doctor that surprised me even more. Defo have more appreciation for this ep watching it with you.

2019-12-08 04:16:51 +0000 UTCSuper excited for the Christmas special reaction, so many twists and emotions this episode.
2019-12-08 04:07:40 +0000 UTCI found it so tragic that the doctor will never know Missy intended to come back to stand by him. But also seemed so fitting for the master to do something like that. I thought the first episode was great but the introduction of this farm level with a bunch of humans for the doctor to save was kinda put there just to give him something to sacrifice himself for yet we had no connection to these people at all. I think the monk 3 parter was a waste they could have shrunk that down to 2 episodes and maybe made the ending a 3 parter and found a way of writing it better and more development of these humans he was sacrificing himself for so we would care more.

2019-12-08 04:05:54 +0000 UTCIt’s funny how after kinda childlike puppy dog 11 people see 12 and his grey hair and grumpiness in the beginning and are unsure but then he turns out to be pretty perfect and all about kindness. 11 was my first doctor but 12 was my doctor.
