UNEDITED EXCLUSIVE: Doctor Who Season 11 Episode 5 REACTION!

This episode has an average score of 5.0/10 on IMDb. There are only 3 episodes ever in the 57 year history of Doctor Who to score lower - one from 1969, one from 1987 and one from 2020. Personally I like this less than any of those alternatives. Atsos or whatever his name is, is the single worst piece of acting I've ever seen on the show. And every element of the storyline did not work for me... the monster, the pregnancy, the companions, the general's illness... everything was bad.

This was actually my least favorite episode of the entire season. There were too many damn characters, and way too many cliches, and it didn't gel at all. It did not improve upon re-acquaintance when I watched this video, either - tbh your reactions were the only thing keeping me doing it. lol

Also with the writing this sloppy and all over and then the fact this is the man in charge of the show right now..... I would like to see Jodie stick around for another season or 2 and get rid of Chibnall but Jodie has made it clear they are a package deal.

One thing that really stuck out to me this whole season was the music. Its always there, i dont think previous seasons had constant music throughout the whole episode, its like ok our shits kinda boring we need music so it doesnt seem as dull. I agree this episode is a mess I didnt really even feel like it was a Who episode, like it could have been an ok general scifi show episode for another series it just didnt feel Who and the way the doctor was acting just seemed off. I took a lot of the tennant similarities to be her trying to mimic previous doctors rather than making the role her own, not sure if thats the writing or having worked with tennant shes trying to emulate his doctor more because of the respect she might have for him and his work? There are very few moments I really felt like OK now thats her actually owning the role. Its hard to tell sometimes how much is due to the actor vs the writting. Like John Simm was always so over the top but was that his choice to emulate the classic masters or the writing and directing because we look at him in the Moffat episodes and John Simm gave a much better performance

Didn't like this one when it aired and after a re-watch and then again with your reaction. About the worst one I've seen I think. There have been stories I've been underwhelmed by before, but they have been saved a lot by the cast and dialogue. I'm not sure if they know what they are doing with the companions. Mandip was given nothing to work with again. I don't like to skip as I've found almost every time there's something to be gotten from each episode. I haven't found anything in this one. ☹

Yeah this episode was a bit of a mess. Great reaction though! Hands down agree that the adipose are the cutest aliens on doctor who.

This is easily the weakest episode of series 11 mainly because nothing major or interesting happens and because the alien wasn't intending to kill everyone, it lacks the tension that the spaceship themed episodes usually have. The side characters are also bland and not properly fleshed out enough for me to care about some of their deaths. I think the brother and sister were the only decent side characters but even then, the episode lacked a proper flow and like you said, the companions didn't have much to do. Episode 4 was definitely better than this one even if it was just decent. Rosa is still my favourite episode out of the 5 you've seen so far.

Personally its my weakest story. I feel like its a skipable ep and they give the doctor too much dialogue. Which at points can be a little cringy. Still enjoyed your reaction.

I agree that there is a lot going on, and not going on, in the episode. I really liked this one when it aired but it has lost it's luster on rewatch; which is strange because the majority of this season improved after a rewatch. I will say the Pting is one of my favorite creatures that have been I this show, it always reminds me of Stitch. I really love the idea of this thing eating the ship until it just can't sustain life, that is scary to me.

Make the crew androids (explain lack of urgency etc) and make the creature scarier and hunting them all down, maybe the creature eats androids. Lose the companions, like you said. Might've worked better.

When they released photos of The Doctor in the ship's console room, I really thought it might be another TARDIS. I don't mind this one too much. A better looking creature, cute & fuzzy or xenomorph type might've made it better.
